أَيها المغضَبُ جَهلاً

ليسَ رزقي في رضاكا

O you who in ignorance are angry,

In your pleasure is not my daily bread,

لستُ أرضاكَ إذا لم

تَرتضيني لإِخاكا

I shall not please you if I do not

Take you as a brother to my own self,

فاتّخِذ غيري خليلاً

فَقَد اخترتُ سِواكا

So take another friend;

For I have chosen otherwise.
