خَفّفْتَ عني حُب ثقلٍ جائر

O you who replaced me with another in love

ناديتُ حبّك خلِّ عن قلبي فقد

مُحِيَتْ سطوركَ من صَحيفةِ خَاطرِي

I called out, "Release your love from my heart," for

Your lines have been erased from the page of my thoughts

وكما رددتَ لي المنام تَفضّلاً

فامنعْ خيالكَ أَن يمرّ بناظري

And just as you returned my sleep to me out of kindness
