جهّى مطر دمع السحاب المجاهيم

سود العيون اللي انتثر وبلهنه

The rain clouds wept tears of sorrow

Black were the eyes that were scattered and confused

رمح الشمال اللي طعن مهجة الغيم

شق السحاب وسالت الشمس منه

The lance of the north that stabbed the heart of the clouds

Split the clouds and the sun shone through

ساعة غشاني دمعها كنه الديم

دب الوجل في المهجة المرجهنه

When its tears deceived me as if it were blood

Fear crept into my anxious heart

وقمت اتذرى بالصبر والتعازيم

بعضي يبوح الخوف وبعضي يكنه

And I started to endure with patience and incantations

Some of me speaks of fear and some of it hides

ناديتها واللي يغيث المظاليم

انك ولا غيرك لقلبي مضنه

I called upon her, the one who helps the oppressed

You and no other are the remedy for my afflicted heart

ان قالوا الحساد داله وانا .. اهيم

ما نيب انا ارجي من عدوي محنه

If the envious say otherwise, I wander

I do not hope for affliction from my enemy

قالت تشد .. وقلت بالحيل باقيم

ما في الوطن .. وعيون الاحباب منه

She said: be steadfast; and I said: with tricks I resist

There is no homeland; and the eyes of loved ones are far

تبسمت شوقٍ .. بحبٍ .. بتسليم

حبيبتي .. والا العدو خاب ظنه

A smile of longing.. of love.. of surrender

My beloved.. unless the enemy is disappointed
