وَمُحمَرَّةٍ تَختالُ في ثَوبِ سُندُسٍ
كَوَجنَةِ مَحبوبٍ أَطَلَّ عِذارُهُ
And a crimson bloom struts in a robe of fine silk,
like a beloved’s cheek where the first down peeps out;
كَتَطريفِ كَفٍّ قَد أَحاطَت بَنانُهُ
بِقَلبِ مُحِبٍّ لَيسَ يَخبُو أُوارُهُ
like henna tipping a hand whose fingers have closed around
the heart of a lover whose passion’s blaze never dies.
