فَتحٌ كَمُنبَلِج الصَباحِ المُسفِرِ
تَجنيهِ مِن وَقعِ القَنا المُتَاطِّرِ
A victory like the dawn of a radiant morning,
Sheltering it from the impact of pouring rain.
هَذا مُحَيّا السَعدِ باهٍ مُشرِقٌ
يَرنو إِلَيكَ بِطلعَةِ المُستَبشِرِ
This is a greeting of good fortune, shining and bountiful,
Yearning towards you at the rise of a harbinger.
أَيُقاوِمُ الأَعداءُ صَولَةَ بأسِهِ
هَل لِلغَمامِ يدٌ بِعاصِفِ صَرصَرِ
Can the enemies resist the ferocity of its valor?
Can the clouds possess a hand against the roaring tempest?
أَهدَيتهُنَّ كتائباً نُظِمَت عَلى
ظَهرِ البَسيطَةِ كَانتِظامِ الأَسطُرِ
You have granted it battalions, organized
On the back of the desert like rows of script.
مِن كُلِّ دِمرٍ طالَما خاضَ الوَغى
صالٍ بِنيرانِ الحُروبِ مُسَعَّرِ
From every destroyer who has long waged war
A stalwart with the fires of battle inflamed.
ريعَت بِها أُمَمُ الجَنوبِ كَأَنَّها
كُتَلُ السَوائِمِ أجفَلَت مِن قَسوَرِ
The nations of the south have galloped with them as if they were
Groups of chargers loosed from the horse pens.
شَرِقَت نُسورُ ظُباكَ مِنهُم بَعدَما
نَهِلَت وَعَلَّت مِن نَجيعِ أحمرِ
Your eagles have shone after they
Descended and ascended from the valley of red death.
تَعِسوا ونالَهُمُ الشَقا وَكَذاكَ مَن
ناوى جَلالَكَ فهوَ أَتعَسُ مَعشَرِ
Woe to them - misery has befallen them and likewise anyone
Who schemes against your glory is the most wretched of groups.
لم يَبقَ حامٍ مِن بَني حامٍ وَلَم
تورِدهُ مِن حَدّي صَوارِمَ بُتَّرِ
No defender remains among the sons of defenders, and no
Swords from my sheath will be returned blunted.
قَد أَقفَرَت منها الغُمودُ فَطالَما
طَرَحَت لُقىً عَنها وَلَمّا تَغمُرِ
The clouds have been emptied of them, after they
Have long laid down their burdens never to be filled again.
بيضٌ مَضارِبُهُنَّ إِن يَعثُر بِها
في ضَنكِ حَربٍ خَطوُ عُمرٍ يَقصُرِ
White encampments - if they stumble in
The straits of war, the steps of life grow short.
وَصَواهِلٌ وَصَواعِقٌ وَحَواصِبٌ
وَكَفَت كمُنهلِّ السَحاب المُمطرِ
Cavalry, armed men, and patient warriors
And it was enough, like the cloudburst’s downpour.
فَمَلَكتَ أَقطارَ الجنوبِ وَما سَمَت
لِمَنالِ ذَلِك هِمَّةُ الإِسكَندرِ
You have ruled the lands of the south, and never
Did the ambition of Alexander reach the likes of that.
وَتَنالُ أَندَلُساً يَجودُ رُبوعَها
بَرَدُ المَنِيَّةِ مِن غمامِ العثيرِ
You will take Andalusia, whose meadows teem
With the coolness of dew from the cloud of bliss.
فَقُدِ الجِيادَ إِلى الضَلالِ تَسومُها
حُكمَ الرَدى وَتَدوسُ مِغطس قَيصرِ
Drive the steeds to corruption - wickedness guides them
And Caesar’s decree tramples them.
أَدرِك بِها الثَأرَ المُنيمَ فَطالَما
أَلوى بِهِ للدينِ رَهطُ الأَصفرِ
Avenge the deferred vengeance - long has
The yellow horde twisted that for the faith.
فكأن بِمصرَ اغتاضَ مِن بَعدِ المَدى
مِن جَوهَرٍ بِحُسامِ بَأسِكَ جُؤذُرِ
So it is as if Egypt was revived after a long absence
With an essence by the sword of your might refined.
فلسَوفَ يَطوي مَغرِباً وَمَشارِقاً
وَيَزورُ دِجلَةَ وَالفُراتَ بِعَسكرِ
It will traverse the west and the east
And visit the Tigris and Euphrates with an army.
وَتَحُلُّ بِالحَرَمَينِ رَبعاً زاكِياً
مَأوى لِجَدِّكَ ذي السَجايا الطُهَّرِ
And you will reside in the Two Holy Places, a prosperous quarter
And refuge for your grandfather of pure, holy traits.
لابُدَّ مِن إنجازِ ما في الغَيبِ مِن
إِبرازِ مَوعودٍ بِهِ وَمُذخَرِ
What is destined in the unseen must be fulfilled
Of bringing out the promised and stored.
فمُناكَ أقرَبُ مَطلَبٍ لَو أَنَّهُ
لَمَسَ الكَواكِبَ لَيسَ بِالمُتعَذِّرِ
For you, the nearest aspiration - if it
Touched the stars - would not be impossible.
فمتى طَلَبتَ مَنالَ أَبعَدِ غايَةٍ
أَلقى مَقادَ مُطاوِعِ مَتَيَسِّرِ
So when you seek the furthest goal
You will find the path of attainment facilitated.
فَلَأَنتَ لِلعَلياءَ كُفءٌ ماجِدٌ
مُتَخَيَّرٌ مِن عُنصُرٍ مُتَخَيَّرِ
For you are a glorious peer of the exalted,
Chosen from a chosen stock.
تَجني ثِمارَ العِزِّ مِن غُصنِ النَقا
وَثَرى قُدودَ الغيدِ قامَةَ أَسمَرِ
You reap the fruits of might from the soft branch
And see the necks of the brave as a dark column.
وَتَرى العُلى ما شِدتَهُ مِن صارِمٍ
أو نِلتَهُ تَحتَ العَجاجِ الأَغبَرِ
And you see elevation - how much undaunted courage
You have taken or gained beneath the dusty standard.
زاكي العُروقِ مُقَدَّسُ الأَحسابِ ها
مي الجودِ سامي العِزِّ نامي المَفخَرِ
Pure of ancestry, sanctified of origin - behold!
The sea of generosity, the summit of glory, the rising dune.
أبقِ المَآثِرَ فَهيَ ما اِمتَدَّ المَدى
غُرَرٌ تُخَلَّدُ في مُحَيّى الأَعصُرِ
Leave achievements, for they are what the ages
Have extended, treasures immortalized in the preserved book.
لا تَقتَني إلّا جَميلَ مَحامِدٍ
وَكَذا اِقتِناءُ الحمدِ أَربَحُ مَتجَرِ
Seek only good praise - and seeking praise
Is the most profitable commerce.
تُهدي الرِفاقَ حَديثَ مجدِكَ عَنبَراً
وَتَشَرَّفَت بِثَناكَ ذِروةُ مِنبَرِ
You grant companions the ambergris of your glory as a gift
And by your praise the highest minbar is ennobled.
لا زال يَنتابُ العِدى لَكَ عَسكَرٌ
يَسري وَتَتبَعُهُ عَوافي الأَنسُرِ
An army ceaselessly goes forth against the enemy for you
Followed by columns of comrades in arms.
وَتَنالُ ما أَمَّلتَ تَملِكُ كُلَّ ما
دارَت بِهِ في الأَرضِ سَبعَةُ أَبحُرِ
You will attain all that you wish, possessing all
That the seven seas have contained on earth.
