شَرِبَ الوَصلُ دَستَجَ الهَجرِ فَاِستَط

لَقَ بَطنُ الوِصالِ بِالاسهال

The union drank separation's cup till overflowed

The belly of union suffers diarrhea

وَرَماني حُبّي بَقولَنجِ بَين

مُذهِلٌ عَن مَلامَةِ العَذال

And my love pelted me with bittersweet words

Leaving me stunned, unable to blame her cruelty

فَفُؤادُ الحَبيبِ يَنحَلَهُ السَ

لُ وَقَلبي مُعَذَّبٌ بِالمَلال

So the lover's heart melts with yearning

While my heart suffers tedium and ennui

وَفُؤادي مُبرسَم ذو سِقام

يا اِبنَ ماسوه ضَل عَنّي اِحتِيالي

My heart is sick with lovesickness

Oh Ibn Masuah you missed my deception

لَو بِقُراطِ كانَ ما بي وَجالي

نوس باتا بِأَكسَفِ بال

If Hippocrates were here, he could not cure my affliction

Sleepless nights in overwhelming sorrow
