O wanderer, soften your tread.
For in the grave lies a heart that has never forgotten you.
It bade its dreams farewell in its sleep,
and forgot all others, remembering none but you.
And if you called to it from its grave,
it would stir within the grave, answering your call.
It does not yearn to behold Paradise at
the blast of the Trumpet, but only to behold you.
And my tomb is among the arak trees;
so come and water it—perhaps I may see you.
If today you have chosen another than me in love,
I, to this moment, have loved no one but you.
A voice in death calls me, just as
it once called me in this world to the nest of your love.
