أَشاحِبٌ أَنتَ مِن هَمٍّ وَتَفكيرِ

وَساهِمٌ أَنتَ مِن ضَنكٍ وَتَكديرِ

You are pale with worry and thought

And weary from hardship and turmoil

إِن رُحتَ تَرقى سَماءَ لا أَليفَ بِها

كيما يُواسيكَ في تِرحالِكَ النوري

If you ascend to unfamiliar skies

So that light can console you in your luminous journey

تَسيرُ بَينَ نُجومٍ لَيسَ يُؤنِسُها

عُمرٌ وَمَسراكَ في هَدىِ الدَياجيرِ

You travel among stars that have no company

A lifetime, yet your delight is in the nebulae's guidance

لَم تَلقَ عَينُكَ ما يُغري اِنتِباهَتِها

وَلَم تَجِد في سَراها أَيُّ تَغييرِ

Your eye has not met what would entice its attention

Nor found in its hiddenness any change
