1. ألا مبلغ ما بين صنعا إلى مصر

    من العرب العربا سلاماً بلا حصر

    O messenger, convey what's between Sanaa and Egypt

    From the Arabs, endless greetings to the Arabs

  2. ومن بعد تبليغ السلام عليهم

    فأهدى لهم نصحا صحيحاً بلا نكر

    And after conveying the greetings to them

    Advise them with good, unquestionable advice

  3. ألا إن سلطان البسيطة لم يزل

    حريصا على الإسلام من ملل الكفر

    Know that the Sultan of the desert has always

    Been keen on Islam against the misguidance of disbelief

  4. ولولاه كان الكفر عمّ ممالكا

    وطمّ عليكم سالبا أحسن العمر

    And were it not for him, disbelief would have spread

    Its domains and overwhelmed you, stealing the best years

  5. فبادر بالجند الكثيف إليكم

    لنفعكم لا للمشقة والقهر

    So he has rushed with a large army to you

    For your benefit, not for hardship and oppression

  6. وراحة مسكين وغوث مروع

    وتأمين ذي خوف وردع ذوى الغدر

    As comfort for the poor and aid for the distressed

    And safety for the frightened and deterrence of traitors

  7. وما بادر السلطان حرصاً لمالكم

    وجمع حطام فهو كالعود في البحر

    The Sultan did not rush out of greed for your possessions

    And gather wreckage - he is like a stick in the sea

  8. وما دخلكم كافٍ لخرجٍ أموركم

    وكل بهذا منكم جهرة يدرى

    And what has come to you is enough for your needs

    And all of you know this, clearly realizing

  9. أتاكم من الحفظى نصحا مصححا

    سليماً من الغش المحقق والغدر

    You have been advised sincerely and truthfully

    Free of deception and betrayal

  10. وإني بحمد اللّه قد عشت بينكم

    كثيرا وما خالفت ما قلت في السطر

    And indeed, by God's grace I have lived among you

    For long without contradicting what I have written

  11. وإن زور الحساد في أساطراً

    فقد نسبوا المختار للكذب والسحر

    And if the envious have fabricated lies against me

    They have attributed lying and sorcery to the Chosen One

  12. وشجوا له وجها وسبوه عنوة

    وبعض ثناياه تناهت إلى الكسر

    And maligned him, and insulted him unjustly

    With some of his merits bordering on diminution

  13. وقد أمر المولى إذا جاء فاسق

    بأنبائه أن يستبين أولى الأمر

    God has ordered that if a sinner comes

    With news, the authorities should verify

  14. فلما استبانوا إنني غير قابل

    أقاويل أهل الافترا عظموا قدرى

    So when they realized I do not accept

    The words of the slanderers, they increased my value

  15. بعفوٍ وإن أبقيت في دار غربة

    فقد شرح الرحمن من فضله صدرى

    With pardon - and if I remain in foreign lands

    The Merciful has eased my heart with His grace

  16. ولا ذنب لي في أرض قومي وغيرها

    سوى البحث في علم الفوائد والنشر

    I have no sin in the land of my people or others

    Except seeking knowledge for benefit and publication

  17. وتعليم ذي جهل وإرشاد طالب

    وتحكيم هذا الوحي بالطوع والقهر

    And teaching the ignorant and guiding the student

    And ruling by this revelation willingly and forcibly

  18. وما رعرعت قلبي أقاويل فاسق

    ولا زعزعت نفسي أقاويل ذي الغدر

    And I have not let the words of the sinner

    Agitate my heart or shake my soul

  19. وما ضرني ألا تفرق شملكم

    فمن ذاك أصبحتم كخط على البحر

    And nothing has harmed me but your disunity

    For through it you have become like a line in the sea

  20. ولو أنكم قمتم لطاعة من له

    وجوب استماع القول في النهى والأمر

    Had you stood up obeying the one whose

    Words must be heard in prohibition and command

  21. لكنتم بخير في نعيم وراحة

    وما كان مقتولا ولا كان ذا أمر

    You would have enjoyed bliss, comfort

    Without killing or destruction

  22. ولكن لما فرق اللّه شملكم

    رأيتم من الأهوال قاصمة الظهر

    But when God split your unity

    You saw horrors that break the back

  23. ولا سيما ما بين صنعا وريمة

    وما بين زهران بين بنى بكر

    Especially between Sanaa, Rayma and what's between

    Zahran of Bani Bakr

  24. وأما أراضي الحجاز ومن بها

    ففيها بنو المختار واسطة السطر

    As for the Hejaz lands and their people

    There are the Chosen One's family, the core

  25. فما خالفوا السلطان قدما ولا خفا

    ولا فعلوا شيئا قبيحا من النكر

    They have not disobeyed the Sultan openly or secretly

    Or done anything ugly or objectionable

  26. وكيف وهم خير الأنام ومنهم

    تنورت الأكوان في البر والبحر

    How could they when they are the best of people, and from them

    The universe enlightened, on land and sea

  27. بحبهمو قلبي ونفسي تودهم

    وهم خيرتي حتى أوسد في القبر

    My heart and soul love them

    They are my elite until I am buried in the grave

  28. محبهم الإيمان قد حل قلبه

    ومبغضهم يدعى إلى الخزى والشر

    Loving them fills the heart with faith

    And hating them leads to shame and evil

  29. سفينة نوح قد نجا راكب لها

    وتاركها لم ينجه أيما أمر

    Noah's ship, he who embarked was saved

    And he who abandoned it - no matter what he did

  30. وقد أمنوا تلك البقاع وطهروا

    معالمها فاسمع إذا كنت لم تدر

    They have granted security to these lands and purified

    Their features - so listen, if you did not know

  31. رجال كرام من سلالة هاشم

    ملوك تعالوا عن جفاء وعن غدر

    Honorable men from Hashim's lineage

    Kings, rise above estrangement and betrayal

  32. عليهم سلام اللّه في كل ساعة

    دواما مدى الأفلاك في فلكها تجري

    Upon them be God's peace at all times

    Forever, as long as the spheres revolve in their orbits

  33. وأنعم بمصر لست أشتم أهلها

    هي الأرض في ذكر المناقب والقدر

    And I also pray, not insulting its people

    That Egypt be graced, the land of virtues and worth

  34. فيا من بقى من نسل أزد شنوءةٍ

    ومن غيرهم عودا عن الغي والنكر

    O remnant of Azd Shanu'a

    And others - desist from wrong and evil

  35. ولا تسمعوا ممن قتلتم رجالهم

    وصاروا حصيداً كالهشيم من النثر

    And do not listen to those whose men you have killed

    And who became debris, like chaff from threshing

  36. قلوبهم مما فعلتم مريضة

    وإن طال هذا العهد فالقوم في ذكر

    Their hearts are sick from what you have done

    Even if time passes - people still remember

  37. وأنهم لمّا سمعتم مقالهم

    تبروا وقالوا أنتم قدوة الغدر

    When they heard their words, you absolved yourselves

    And claimed they exemplified betrayal

  38. وخابوا فقد دلوكم برثاثة

    حبال عراها لا تمنع من يدرى

    They failed - the feeble ropes they misled you with

    Do not prevent those who realize the truth

  39. فعودا إلى الرحمن فهو الذي به

    تقوم معالى الدين في البر والبحر

    So return to The Merciful - it is by Him

    The pillars of the faith stand firm on land and sea

  40. وينصر مظلوما ويقمع ظالما

    ودين ذوي الإسلام يعلو على الكفر

    He helps the wronged and suppresses the oppressor

    And the religion of the Muslims rises above disbelief

  41. إليكم بنى قحطان نظمى مذكّراً

    قديم عهاد لست أنساه من عمري

    My reminders have come to you, O Qahtan's sons

    An old covenant I have not forgotten in my life

  42. وقولوا لشهران وهمدان مثلما

    ذكرت لكم من كل نهى ومن أمر

    And say the same to Shahran and Hamdan

    As I have told you of prohibitions and commands

  43. وأوصيكموا أيضا ونفسي أولاً

    بطاعة ذي الأحسان في اللف والنشر

    And I advise you, and myself first,

    To obey the Benevolent One in secret and openly

  44. فمن يطع الرحمن لم يلق كربة

    ولا ناله تكدير زيد ولا عمر

    Whoever obeys The Merciful will never suffer agony

    Nor will he be vexed - neither Zayd nor Amr

  45. وكونوا على التقوى ككف وساعد

    تنالوا لجمع الشمل خيرا بلا حضر

    And be steadfast in piety like palm and forearm

    To attain unity, the greatest good without effort

  46. أما تنظرون النحل حال اجتماعها

    نمت عسلا يشفى العليل من الصدر

    Do you not see how bees when united

    Produce honey that heals sickness of the chest

  47. وما كان للذبان عند افتراقها

    سوى الخزى والتدمير والذل والخسر

    While when hornets split, they have nothing left

    But disgrace, destruction, humiliation and loss

  48. كفى مثلا هذا لمن كان عاقلا

    فلا تهملوه في حياتي وفي قبري

    This example is enough for one who is wise

    So do not neglect it in my life or grave

  49. ولا تسمعوا من غرة القرد في الذرى

    يحوم مع الغربان في طيشة الفكر

    And do not listen to the deceived monkey in the rubble

    Who hovers with crows in the confusion of thoughts

  50. يود بأن يلقى بأفعال نفسه

    سرورا وهذا قائد الخزى والضر

    Wishing he could meet with approval for his deeds

    While he is the leader of disgrace and harm

  51. فمن ناطح السلطان كسر قرنه

    وهل ضرر يلقى أشد من الكسر

    Whoever contends with the Sultan will have his horn broken

    And what harm is greater than being broken?

  52. ونحن بحمد اللّه تعرف حقه

    قديما وبالطاعات للمرتضى ندري

    By God's grace we have long known his right

    And obeyed the Chosen One, as we know

  53. ولكنه قد حال ما بيننا الذي

    يحق لنا من ذاك واسعة العذر

    But what comes between us is what prevents us

    From what we rightly deserve - so we have excuses

  54. وإلا فكل منكم عارف له

    فضائله لكن بليتم من القهر

    For each of you knows his virtues

    But you have suffered oppression

  55. ومن يبله الكيد الخئون بنكبة

    فمرهما التقوى مع الصدق والصبر

    Whoever is tested by vile intrigues with a setback

    Let piety, truth and patience be his remedy

  56. إليكم أتت تختال في حلل لها

    من النصح والإخلاص والنهى والأمر

    Words have come to you, strutting in garments

    Of advice, sincerity, prohibition and command

  57. أتتكم من الروم الذي شاع صيته

    بعيد عن الأهلين في قبضة الأسر

    They have come from Rome, whose fame has spread

    Far, while he is captive in the clutch of prisoners

  58. ولكنني والحمد للّه صابر

    ولا أتمنى فائتاً مدة العمر

    But praise God, I am patient

    And do not long for the past days of life

  59. ولي حسن ظن أن يعجل غارة

    علي بفك الأسر من حيث لا أدري

    I have good expectations that a raid will come soon

    To free me from captivity, from where I know not

  60. وما أنا أشتاق البلاد وأهلها

    وإن إخوتي كانوا بها وبها أمرى

    I do not yearn for the country or its people

    Even if my brothers are there - there lies my affair

  61. فما بلدي أمي ولا الروم والدي

    ولا يمنٌ عمى ولا شامنا صهرى

    Neither is my homeland my mother, nor Rome my father

    Neither is Yemen my uncle, nor Syria my in-law

  62. ولا أتغنى بالبكاء لوصلها

    ولا بالتشكى فهو بالمبتلى يدري

    I will not gain by crying for reunion

    Or complaining - He knows the plight of the afflicted

  63. وإني من قوم كرام أعزة

    مناقبهم جلّت عن العد والحصر

    I am from honorable, noble people

    Whose merits are too many to count

  64. ولكن ذنب يكنت منه مشردا

    سأغسله إن عشت في السرو والجهر

    But a sin I committed has cast me away

    I will wash it, if I live, in private and public

  65. وإني بحمد اللّه معترف به

    ومن لطفه ما زلت في نعم تجرى

    And indeed, by God's grace, I admit to it

    And by His kindness I still enjoy blessings

  66. ولست بذي عييٍّ إذا كنت ساكنا

    وإن ابتدى بالنطق كنت به أدرى

    I am not helpless if I stay silent

    And if I speak I know what to begin with

  67. وبدء نظامى والختام اسم ربنا

    تعالى عن الإشراك مرتفع القدر

    The order of my composition and its end is the name of our Exalted Lord

    Above association, of highest status

  68. وأيضا صلاة والسلام على الذي

    به تنجلى الأهوال في موقف الحشر

    And also prayer and peace upon the one by whom

    Afflictions are unveiled on the Day of Assembly

  69. وآل كرام ثم صحب وتابع

    وتابع إرشاد إلى منتهى الدهر

    And his noble family, then his companions and followers

    And followers of guidance until the end of time

  70. عليهم صلاة اللّه ما قلت جهرة

    ألا مبلغ ما بين صنعا إلى مصر

    God's prayer upon them whenever I proclaimed

    O messenger, convey what's between Sanaa and Egypt
