1. سلام على دار الخلافة والنصر

    سلام سليم ليس يدركُ بالحصر

    Peace upon the abode of the Caliphate and victory

    A complete peace that cannot be fully comprehended

  2. سلام على أعلامها وربوعها

    ومن حنّ للاسلام والنهى والأمر

    Peace upon its flags and lands

    And whoever yearned for Islam, prohibition, and command

  3. سلام وهل من سامع لشكيتي

    فمنها تلين القاسيات من الصخر

    Peace, and is there anyone who would listen to my complaint?

    For it would soften the harshest of rocks

  4. وأعظم تسليمي وأقصى مودتي

    لمن خلّف الرحمن في البر والبحر

    My greatest greetings and utmost affection

    Are for the one God left in righteousness on land and sea

  5. أبا يوسف عين الوجود ومن له

    تدين البرايا بالهداية والقهر

    Abu Yusuf, essence of existence, the one to whom

    The lands are indebted for guidance and conquest

  6. خليفة خير المسلمين محمد

    معزّ ذوى الإسلام مخزى أولى الكفر

    Caliph of the best of Muslims, Muhammad

    Supporter of Islam, disgracer of the foremost disbelievers

  7. ودان له شرق البلاد وغربها

    وأضحى بحمد اللّه مرتفع القدر

    The East and West of the lands submitted to him

    And by the grace of God, his prestige was raised

  8. أقام شعار الدين في كل وجهة

    وساعده المقدور من حيث لم يدر

    He established the banners of religion everywhere

    And destiny assisted him from where it was least expected

  9. وأعطى قناطير النضار تكرماً

    وما نقصت جدواه في العسر واليسر

    He generously gave gold dinars

    And his generosity did not diminish in hardship or ease

  10. وقد نعشَ الدين الحنيفي سابقا

    وأحياه بالمعروف في الناس لا النكر

    He had already revived the Hanifi faith

    And brought it to life among the people through good, not evil

  11. فمن مبلغ السلطان عنى تحية

    يفوق شذاها المسك والعود ذا العطر

    Whoever conveys greetings to the Sultan from me

    Exceeding the fragrance of musk and perfumed wood

  12. ومن بعد هذا يسمع الناس صوته

    ألا يا إمام المسلمين استمع أمرى

    And after this, whoever makes the people hear his voice:

    Lo! O Imam of the Muslims, hear my matter!

  13. ألا إن ربى لم يخلقك خلقه

    لهتك ذوى الإسلام في البر والبحر

    Lo! My Lord did not create you in His image

    To violate the protected people on land and sea

  14. أتتك من الحفظى قافية إلى

    مكانك تحكى ما أتاه من الضر

    News has come to you from the Hafizi

    Telling of what afflicted them from harm

  15. إذا كنت تدريه فويلٌ لشخصك

    وإن كنت لا تدريه فاللّه ذا يدري

    If you know it, then woe to you

    And if you do not know, then God knows

  16. إليك أنت تختال في حلل اليها

    حياء فلا تكشف لها سبل الستر

    You strut about in luxurious garments

    Shy to uncover the protected ways for them

  17. وإن كنت أخطأت القوافي فسابقاً

    تعامى على حسان قافية الشعر

    If I have erred in the rhyme and meter

    Then overlook the great nonsense in my poetry

  18. لما لقيَ المختار من فعل قومه

    وافراده قهرا عن الأهل والصهر

    When al-Mukhtar faced the deeds of his people

    Who oppressed him, separating him from family and in-laws

  19. وإخراجه من بيته ومحله

    وافراده بالليل في مهمهٍ قفر

    Expelling him from his home and abode

    Abandoning him at night in a desolate wasteland

  20. بغار حراء كان ما كان من أذى

    ووازره الصديق في ذلك الحجر

    In the cave of Hira, whatever harm befell him

    And his friend supported him in that cave

  21. وما كان ذنب المصطفى غير قوله

    ألا ان ربي اللّه ذو الملك والأمر

    The Prophet's only crime was saying:

    “Lo! My Lord is God, Master of sovereignty and command”

  22. فإن تجد التقصير فيما نظمته

    فقابل عظيم الغث منيَ بالستر

    If you find shortcoming in what I have composed

    Then counter great nonsense from me with veiling

  23. فهذاك حسان على كتف غيره

    تقعقع لما أن رأى كسفة البدر

    This is Hassaan upon another's shoulder

    Clanging when he saw the waning of the full moon

  24. فكيف بمن في أهله وعياله

    أراه زمان السوء قاصمة الظهر

    So what of one whose family and dependents

    He sees in times of woe, breaking their backs

  25. وكل بنيه والمحارم جملة

    دموعهم في حر نار الجوى تجرى

    Including all his children and protected relations

    Their tears flowing in the heat of fiery affliction

  26. وإنك سلطان الممالك كلها

    وخلفك الرحمن للنهى والأمر

    You are the Sultan of all the realms

    And the Merciful made you successor for prohibition and command

  27. فسمعا لوفاد أتتهم رسالة

    لرسلك فانقادوا إليك بلا نكر

    So listen to the envoys who came to them with messages

    To your messengers, so they obeyed without refusal

  28. وكان جزاهم كالمحارب ربه

    ويسعى فساداً في البرارى وفي البحر

    Yet their reward was like those who war with their Lord

    And seek corruption in the lands and seas

  29. فباللّه يا سلطان دائرة الملا

    ويا معدن الإحسان في اللف والنشر

    So by God, O Sultan who turns the spheres

    And O source of benevolence in bonding and dispersing

  30. تلطف بنا واتبع لقول نبينا

    لعلك تنجو من عناد ومن وزر

    Be gentle with us and follow the word of our Prophet

    That you may be saved from obstinacy and burden

  31. فلا بد من يوم شديد حسابه

    ويوقف فيه العبد للحشر والنشر

    For there is no escape from a day of severe reckoning

    When the servant will stand for gathering and dispersing

  32. وتسأل فيه جهرة من صنائع

    بنا وبقوم الأزد أعنى ذوى الأسر

    And be questioned about our affairs

    And the affairs of the Azd people - I mean the protected lineages

  33. وتعلم فيه سوء عقباك بالذي

    فعلت من التشتيت والأسر والقسر

    And you will know on that day the evil consequence

    Of what you did in scattering, imprisoning, and forcing

  34. وإلا فعجل أمركم بسراحنا

    لعلك تنجو من عذاب ومن خسر

    Unless you quickly release us

    That you may be saved from torment and loss
