صاحتِ العنقاءُ يا قومُ اركُضوا
واحملوا ضَيْعَتطُم وانطلقوا
The grackle cried out, “O people run
And carry your homes and depart
أسكنوها ساحةً نائيةً
قبلَ أن يسْأل عنها الغَرق
Settle them in a remote open space
Before the flood asks after them
ساحةٌ ما زارها القطْرُ وما
شَعَّ منها للأماني ألَقُ
An open space untouched by rain where
No hopes have shone forth
إنها أنْثى تولى أمْرها
بعد أن شاختْ قُواها القلَق
It is a female who assumed command
After her restless strength grew old
