قالت غداً تصفو الحياةُ وترتدي

ثوبَ الزفاف السندسيَّ وتزدهي

She said tomorrow life will clear up and don

The wedding dress of brocade and prosper

قلتُ احذري شُدِّي الحزامَ فأنتِ في

سفرٍ شديد المُرتقىَ وتنبَّهي

I said beware tighten your belt you are in

A journey of great ascent and awake

وعدَ المنجِّمُ زوجَهُ قترقَّبَتْ

للمطمحِ الزاكي وللزمنِ البهي

The astrologer promised his wife yearned

For the good ambition and the splendid time

هيهاتَ أن يطأ الثُّرَيَّا غارقٌ

في الوحلِ أو يرثَ السِّماكَ بكذبِهِ

Alas the one drowned in mud can't reach

Pleiades or inherit aquatic with his lies
