حجبوا الأضواءَ عَنَّا حَسَدا

وأقاموها عَلَيْنا رَصَدا

They hid the lights from us out of envy

And set them up over us as an ambush

سَرَقوا اللُّقْمةَ من أفْواهنا

كيْ نعيشَ العُمْرَ جوعاً وصَدى

They stole the morsel from our mouths

So we live our lives hungry and denied

حَمَلوا الرِّجْسَ على أكتافهم

وحَمَلْنا في المُلِمَّاتِ النَّدى

They carried vileness upon their shoulders

While we carried purity in dire straits

وكتبنا في سجلات المدى

أنَّنا في ساحةِ الحَرْبِ الرَّدى

And we wrote in the registers of time

That we are in the arena of perilous war
