1. إليكِ ترسل هذا الحب أفئدة

    تهوي إليكِ .. وفيها للقاء ظما

    To you these hearts send their love,

    Yearning for you...and in them a longing for the meeting.

  2. مشت إليكِ بأشواق تسيرها

    قلوب أنهلها حب بها احتدما

    They walked to you with passions driving them,

    Hearts that love has set ablaze in them.

  3. مليحة .. ومعين الغيم أرضعها

    هذا الجمال .. فما ملت وما فَطَما

    Beautiful...and the rain cloud nurtured it,

    This beauty...that has not withered nor been weaned.

  4. تفتقت أرضها عن سر فتنتها

    مرابعاً أتعبت في عشقها أمما

    Her land burst open revealing the secret of her charm,

    For ages she has wearied nations with her love.

  5. ألقى لها المزن هتان الهوى غدقاً

    فكل وادٍ يباهي حسنه القمما

    Al-Muzain poured passionately his love for her,

    So every valley boasts of her beauty from its peaks.

  6. قد تيمته وكانت في دفاتره

    قصيدةً تُسْكر الأوراق والقلما

    She was his obsession and in his notebooks

    She was a poem that intoxicates the pages and the pen.

  7. أبياتها لغة ما افتض أحرفها

    إلا ليكتب عنه العشقُ ما نظما

    Its verses a language that nothing spelled out

    Except for love to compose what it had versified.

  8. ذكرى تلامس طيباً في خمائلها

    فاهتز يسأل عنها قلبه الشبما

    A memory that touches with its tenderness his feelings

    So his youthful heart stirs asking about her.

  9. كانت هنا يا أبا "غسان" مشرقة

    عرفت أهلاً بها قد عانقوا الشمما

    She was here, oh Abu Ghassan, radiant,

    I knew people by her who embraced high places.

  10. عرفت أعذب أيام بكم عذبت

    " أبو محمد " في أيامها العلما

    I knew the sweetest days made sweet by you

    Abu Muhammad...in her glorious days.

  11. مجالس عبق الذكرى يخلدها

    عبر الزمان ومهما عهدها قدما

    Gatherings with the fragrance of memories to immortalize them

    Across time however long it has known them.

  12. أبها لها القلب والذكرى تعلله

    والقلب يستعجل الأيام ما كتما

    My heart adores her and memory makes it languish

    While the heart hurries days that concealed anything.

  13. مشى إليها الهوى يُلْقى طواعية

    مفاتناً ومغانٍ عانقت عشما

    Love walked to her willingly

    Bestowing charms and melodies that embraced determination.

  14. أبها لها في مدار السحب منزلةٌ

    سريرُ هدهده نفح الصَّبا فَهَما

    My heart adores her abode in the orbit of clouds

    Where the hummingbird's throne is the blowing of the zephyr.

  15. أبها وهذا ثراءُ الحسن أبدعه

    من أبدع الكون أرضاً أخصبت وسما

    My heart adores, and this is the wealth of beauty He perfected

    Who perfected the earth, making it fertile and high.

  16. تلفتت أعين العشاق مبصرة

    ما أبهج العين أو أغرى بها القدما

    The eyes of lovers glance seeing

    What delighted the eye or seduced the step.

  17. شدوا إليها السُّرى والشوق يحملهم

    على ثرى الحسن يلقى الناس مبتسما

    The passionate walked to her, and yearning carries them

    To the earth of beauty where people smile.

  18. أحبابنا الصيف فيها بعض فتنتها

    فجئت أعشق فيها الصحو والديما

    My loved ones, summer in it is some of its charm

    So I came to love in it the late morn and the rain.

  19. وأعشق الأرض ناساً طاب معادنهم

    فاستنبتوا الأرض هذا العشق والكرما

    And I love the people of the earth, pure their essence

    Who made the earth flourish with this love and generosity.

  20. في كل شبر تقول الأرض أنت هنا

    حبيبها فلتكن في سمعها النغما

    In every span of land the earth says you are here

    My beloved, so be in her hearing the melody.

  21. تشدوا بها ملء سمع الأرض قافية

    تنثال طيب شذا تفترُّ بوح لما

    They sing of her filling the earth’s hearing with metre

    That drips sweet fragrance spreading the breath of breeze.

  22. أبها هي الشعر لا معنى ولا لغة

    تُطَاوِلُ الحُسْنَ ريَّاناً ومُحْتشما

    My heart adores it is poetry without meaning or language

    Paying tribute to beauty, dewy and modest.

  23. إذا تفيأ منها المرء مورقة

    حنت عليه غصون كلما سئما

    When one takes shade in it, branches bend over him

    Whenever he grows weary.

  24. الصيف بين يديها رجعُ أغنية

    وعاشقٌ منذ فجر الدهر ما اغتلما

    Summer before her returns as a song

    And a lover since the dawn of time not sleepy.

  25. أحبابنا ومساء الشعر يسألني

    ألم تكن بجنون العشق متهما

    My loved ones, and evening poetry asks me

    Have you not been accused of love’s madness?

  26. يا شعر إن كان عشق الأرض تيمني

    فإن لي وطناً بالعشق قد خُتِما

    Oh poetry, if love of the land possesses me

    Then for me is a homeland sealed with love.

  27. إليه كل جنون العشق يسكنني

    وما اقترفت به هجراً ولا ندما

    To it belongs all the madness of love that grips me

    And I have not committed against it estrangement or regret.
