ديارٌ عفت بالملتقى وتغيّرت

وجادت عليها الواكفات السحائب

The abodes where we once met have changed,

As clouds pour down their weeping rain.

جنوب إذا غابت برسم طلولها

تظهر شمال لما هو غائب

When the south wind disappears in its grief,

The north wind appears to take its place.

ومهما أتيت الدار حنّت بلابل

وسحت على خدي دموع سواكب

Whenever I come to these houses, they greet me with nightingales,

And tears of stars flow down my cheeks.

ديار لقطب الكون ماء عيوننا

على كل موجود له الفضل راسب

These abodes, to the axis of existence, are our streaming tears

Flowing with favor on all things that exist.

فلا مثله حبر ولا مثله فتى

إمام إليه المكرمات عوازب

None equals him, neither ink nor youth -

An Imam whose noble traits stand ready.

لقد حاز كل العلم قبل بلوغه

فبانت له من العلوم عجائب

He attained all knowledge before maturity,

And wonders of knowledge became clear to him.

كريم همام طاهر ومطهر

مغيث لمن ضاقت عليه المذاهب

Noble, protector, pure and purifying,

A refuge when doctrines grow constricted.

رحيم شفيق بالمساكين كلها

وسيف حسام في الحفيظة ضارب

Merciful and kind to all the poor,

And a keen sword among sheathed blades.

وبحر زلال يستقي منه من يشا

ونور به ضوء الغياهب ثاقب

An ocean whose water whoever wishes may draw,

A light whose radiance pierces the darkness.

فما الغيث إذ سحت وسحت سحابه

وما البحر إذ جنت عليه الغوارب

What are clouds when they pour down rain,

And what is the sea when ships sail upon it,

بأكثر من جدواه إذا أظلم السما

ولم يبق إلا من قرى النمل كاسب

Compared to his munificence when the sky grows dark

And none remains but the toiling ant?

إذا كنت ترضى أن يكون لك المنى

وتأخذ ما تهوى وما أنت راغب

If you wish the desires of your soul,

And to take what you long for,

فبايع له بالنفس والمال مطلقا

وحقق بأن تمت عليك المطالب

Then pledge yourself to him, your soul and wealth completely,

And fulfill the covenant that binds you.

له منزل يعلو على كل منزل

له رتب فوق السماء رواتب

For him is an abode loftier than any abode,

Ranks above the heavens, ever rising.

له راحة تجري على الخلق دائما

مواهبها للمعتفين سواكب

For him, a peace flowing over creation eternally,

Its blessings descending like stars on the faithful.

ترى كلّ مسكين إلى الشيخ راغبا

كما كل جبار من الشيخ راهب

You see every poor man turning hopefully to the Shaykh,

As every tyrant shrinks in fear from him.

فمثل إمام الناس ليس بموجد

ولا هو حاضر ولا و غائب

The like of the Imam of mankind is not to be found,

Neither present nor absent is he.

لقد ورث المختار ماء عيوننا

فتمّت سجاياه وتمّ المناقب

He inherited the streaming tears of our eyes,

And so his traits and virtues were perfected.

مناقبه لم يحصها مدح مادح

ومن رام إحصاء لها فهو كاذب

His virtues, no praiser has enumerated,

And he who attempts to count them lies.

بجاهكم تقضى جميع حوائجي

وما أنافي الدارين عندك طالب

By your eminence, all my needs are fulfilled,

For with you I am not deprived in either world.

صلاةٌ على المختار أحمد جدكم

سلام عليه دائما يتعاقب

Blessings on the Chosen One, Ahmad your ancestor,

Peace be upon him forever, ongoing.

كذا الآل والأصحاب ما ذرّ كوكب

وما نيل من ماء العين المآرب

And so his household and companions, as long as stars shine down

And the waterwheel draws water from the well.
