زانَ جَناني عَطنٌ مُغضَفِ
When the clouds withhold their rain
My garden is filled with a musty dampness
مُعرَورِفٌ أَسبَلَ جُبَّارَهُ
أَسوَدُ كَالغابَةِ مُغدَودِفِ
Overgrown and unkempt it spills over
As black as the woods, darkened and obscured
يَزخَرُ في أَقطارِهِ مُغدِقٌ
بِجَما فَتيِهِ الشوعَ وَالغِريَفِ
It teems across its expanse, overflowing
With the exuberance and vivacity of its youth
