ُرمى لعينٍ .. لا أملُّ جموحهَا

أجريتُ شعرًا سائغًا رقراقَا

For eyes that roam freely, I have no hope of restraining them,

I composed poetry, flowing softly,

يُقهي قلوب العاشقين سوى الذي

شغلَ الفؤادَ .. وهيّج الأشواقا

That would soothe the hearts of lovers, except for the one

Who has preoccupied my heart, and stirred up longing.
