In your name I rose—as wedding feasts within my ribs—
and set about filling the cup with its tenderness.
The spell of your love—why should I not melt away with longing,
and borrow breaths so I may keep it alive?
I marshaled your word until you came to rest here,
in the soul, where amid its longings you enthrall the myrtle.
O you who have possessed me—I give no one possession of my soul
but him who was a beacon among humankind.
By God, by God, take care with a heart for which
the purest feelings stand as gatekeepers and guards.
