..
Come—let us write ourselves into a line of poetry,
with no meter, measure, or rhyme.
..
..
Come—let us defy the conventions of love
and break its worn-out habits.
I will be your longed-for field,
and you will become my water and waterwheel.
I have grown weary of love, my friend,
and of the sickness of our fleeting longings.
..
Come, let us be anything at all except
two lovers—and thus enjoy good health.
