أقمتُ باسمك في الأضلاع أعراسا

ورحت أملأ من تحنانه الكاسا

I held weddings in your name within my ribs,

And went about filling cups with his tenderness.

سحرٌ هواك فمالي لا أذوب جوى

وأستعير لكي أحييه أنفاسا

Your love is an enchantment, so why wouldn't I melt?

And borrow breaths to bring it back to life.

جيّشتَ حرفك حتى تستقرّ هنا

في الروح تأسر في أشواقها الآسا

You stirred your words until settling here,

In the soul they captivate with their yearning.

يا من ملكت ونفسي لا أُملّكها

إلا الّذي كان بين الناس نبراسا

O you who owned me, while I cannot own myself

Except to the one who was a lamp amidst people.

الله الله في قلبٍ وقفت له

أزكى المشاعر حجاباً وحراسا

By God, by God, in a heart I stood still for,

The most pure feelings are veil and guard.
