1. ماذا أَقول و أيَّ شيءٍ أكْتُبُ

    السَّاحُ تَنْأى والمَنازلُ تَغْربُ

    What should I say, and what can I write?

    The fields are abandoned, the houses deserted.

  2. لَهْفي على تلك الدِّماءِ تَدَفَّقَتْ

    والنَّاسُ في لَهْوٍ يَضجُّ و يصْخَبُ

    My longing for that spilled blood

    While people revel, noisy and raucous.

  3. الرّاقِصون على الدِّماءِ على الأنيـ

    ـن، على الجَماجِم ! والغِناءُ الأعْجَبُ

    Dancers on the blood, on the eyes,

    On the skulls! And the most wondrous singing!

  4. الغيدُ تَلْهو بالقُلوب و حَوْلَها

    سَكْرَى! وأَنغَامُ الضّياعِ تَسَرَّبُ

    Flutes entice hearts as intoxication whirls around them!

    And the melodies of loss seep through.

  5. لله در ُّ فتىً يُفجِّرُ نَفْسَهُ

    ويْحي ! وأُمّتُهُ غُفَاةٌ غُيَّبُ

    God bless the youth who detonates himself!

    Reviving! While his nation slumbers, absent.

  6. فكأنّما مُلِئَتْ جَوانبُهُ أسىً

    غَضَباً ! ولم يَرَ حَوْلَهُ مَنْ يَغْضَبُ

    So it's as if his sides fill with sorrow,

    Anger! And around him none rage.

  7. وفؤادُه لَهَبُ العزيمة وَقْدُه

    عَزْمٌ وإِيثارٌ وحقٌّ أَغْلَبُ

    His conscience aflame with determination, its wick

    Resolve and sacrifice and truth most victorious.

  8. وعلى مُحَيَّاهُ البشائرُ أَشْرَقتْ

    أَملاً يُضيء ولَهْفَةً تترقَّبُ

    On his forehead tidings shine

    Hope lights up and anticipation keeps watch.

  9. وتلفَّتتْ عَيْناه! حِين بَدَا لَهُ

    زَحْفٌ ونِيرانٌ تُصَبّ و تُسْكَبُ

    And his eyes shifted! When there loomed before him

    An onslaught, fires pouring and spilling over,

  10. ومدافعٌ وقنابلٌ والطائرا

    تُ تحومُ تُلْقي بالجحيمِ وتضْرِبُ

    Cannons and bombs, and planes circling,

    Raining hell, striking.

  11. ويحي! ودّباباتُه انْطَلقَتْ على

    قَصْفٍ أَشَدَّ، لَهِيْبُهُ لا يُحْجَبُ

    And lo! His tanks charged forth

    Pounding harder, its horror unobscured.

  12. فمنازلٌ تَهْوي عَلى أصْحابِها

    ومصانِعٌ تُطْوى وأَهْلٌ نُحَّبُ

    Houses collapse on their dwellers

    Factories fold, people piled up.

  13. ودَمٌ تفجَّرَ في المَرابِعِ كُلِّها

    دَوّى هُناك ! فَمنْ يُجِيبُ ويُعْرِبُ ؟

    Blood burst forth in all the squares

    Raging there! So who answers, who explains?

  14. وَدمُ الطّفولةِ يسْتَغيثُ ! وأنَّةُ

    الثكْلى تُنادي! والدّموعُ تَشَعَّبُ

    The blood of childhood cries out! And the wail

    Of the bereaved calls! And tears flow.

  15. وتلفّتتْ عَيْناه ! هل مِنْ مُشْفِقٍ

    في الأَرْض يَحْنوُ ؟ أو يَلين فيحدُبُ

    And his eyes shifted! Is there one who has mercy

    On earth who melts? Or is tender, bending?

  16. فالناس والدّنْيا كأنّ بِهمْ عَمىً

    وقلوبُهُمْ شتَّى المسَالكِ تذْهَبُ

    So people and the world are as though blind to them

    And their hearts on diverse paths wander.

  17. أَو أنّهم صُمٌّ وبُكْمٌ ويْحَهُمْ

    لا مَشْرِقٌ يُصْغي لهمْ أو مَغرِبُ

    Or they are deaf, mute, fooling themselves,

    No sunrise alerts them, nor sunset.

  18. وتلفَّتتْ عيناهُ تنطقُ بالأسى

    تقول يا دنيا أطلّوا وارقُبوا

    And his eyes turned, speaking with sorrow

    Saying: O world, be alert and watch!

  19. أين النِّظامُ العَالميّ ؟ ! وأيْن كُـ

    ـلُّ لجانِهِ ؟ أيْنَ المُنى والمطْلبُ

    Where is the world order? And where is

    Each of its committees? Where are wishes and goals?

  20. أين الشّعاراتُ التي غَنَّوا بِها

    زَمَناً فَغَاب غِناؤهم والمُطْرِبُ

    Where are the slogans they once sang,

    Then their singing faded, and the singer?

  21. أيْنَ الأُخُوّةُ والعَدالةُ والمُسَا

    واة التي تُطْوى هُنَاكَ وتَكْذِبُ

    Where is brotherhood, justice, and equality

    That there are folded, and lie?

  22. وتلفّتت عيناهُ واْلتَفَتَ الفؤا

    دُ : فأيْن أهْلي و الهَوَى والمأربُ ؟!

    And his eyes turned, and his conscience turned:

    Where are my people, passions and home?!

  23. أيْنَ العُروبةُ والسّلامُ و أيْنَ أرْ

    حامٌ تَقَطَّعُ والوِدادُ الأَقْرَبُ ؟!

    Where is Arabism, peace, and where are the intimate

    Ties that are torn, and closest affection?!

  24. أيْنَ الشِعارات التي دوّى بها

    حَشْدٌ وأين سَبيلُها والمذْهَبُ ؟!

    Where are the slogans roared by the throngs

    And where are their paths and ways?

  25. والمسْلمون ! وأَيْنَ هُمْ ؟! أيْنَ الوعُو

    دُ ؟! وكَمْ تُبَدَّل، ويْحَهم، وتُقَلَّبُ

    And the Muslims! Where are they?! Where are the promises?!

    How much they have changed, how they have turned!

  26. نَادَوْا شُعُوبَ الأرض! قَادتَها! اسْتَغا

    ثُوا بالعدُوِّ وبالصّديقِ وأوْعَبُوا

    They called on the world's peoples, leaders! Cried out

    To foe and friend and complained!

  27. وتَوسَّلوا! وتَضرَّعوا! و تَذلَّلوا!

    من ذا يُجيبُ نِداءَهُمْ أو يَصْحَب ؟!

    And pleaded! And begged! And groveled!

    Who will answer their call, or keep them company?

  28. قالوا قَلِقْنا! أوقفوا الإرهاب! ويْـ

    لكُمُ ! فمن ذاك الذي هُو يُرْهِبُ ؟!

    They said: We are anxious! Stop the terrorism! Woe to you!

    So who is it that terrorizes?!

  29. مَنْ قَتَّل الأَطْفَالَ ؟! مَنْ قَدْ أشعل الـ

    نَّيران؟! مَنْ يَطْغَى هناكَ ويُلْهِبُ ؟!

    Who killed the children?! Who ignited

    The fires?! Who rages there and inflames?!

  30. قالوا : سنبعَثُ بالوسيط لكي يُعا

    لِجَ ما يَرى من مُشْكِلٍ و يُقَرِّبُ

    They said: We will send an envoy to address

    What problems he sees, and draw near.

  31. كمْ من وسيطٍ يا فلَسْطِينُ ارْتَدى

    ثوبَ السّلام يَنالُ مِنْكِ ويَنْهَبُ

    How many envoys, O Palestine, have worn

    The garb of peace, only to plunder and loot you!

  32. المجْرِمونَ عِصَابَةٌ جَمَعَتْهُمُ

    فِتَنُ الهَوى صفّاً يَشُدُّ ويدأَبُ

    The criminals are a gang bound

    By the passions of desire, lined up and toiling.

  33. وتَلفَّتَتْ عَيْناهُ : أيْنَ مُفاوِضٌ

    يَسْعى ؟ ! وأيْنَ الفارس المتَوَثِّبُ

    And his eyes turned! Where is a negotiator

    Who might toil? And where is the knight who vaults?

  34. كم قَاعةٍ قَد زُيِّنتْ لمفَاوُضٍ

    لاهٍ يُمَثّلُ أو يُراوغُ ثَعْلَبُ

    How many halls embellished for an errant

    Negotiator who acts or deceives like a fox!

  35. وتَدورُ فيها الشاةُ تَثغو، دونَها

    نابٌ يُقَطَِّع أو يُمزِّقُ مخْلبُ

    And the sheep mill about within, under it

    Fangs that shred and tear with each swipe!

  36. وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ! ويْحي لم يَعُدْ

    في السّاحِ مِنْ حَجَرٍ يَطيرُ ويُرْعِبُ

    And his eyes shifted! No stone remains

    In the field that can be thrown to frighten.

  37. وتَلفّتَتْ عيْناهُ ! ويْحيَ لم يَعُدْ

    حَشْدُ السلاح يَصُدُّ أو يتصَبَّبُ

    And his eyes shifted! No throng of weapons

    Can deter or seep through.

  38. وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ ! والأَقْصى يَئـ

    ـنُّ وقَيْدُه قاسٍ عليه مُجَرّبُ

    And his eyes turned! And the Aqsa moans,

    Its bond so harsh, tested on it.

  39. وتلفّتَتْ عَيْناهُ! وامْتلأَتْ جوا

    نِبُه أسىً ينْمو لديْه و يَغلِبُ

    And his eyes shifted! And his sides brimmed

    With sorrow growing within him, prevailing.

  40. وإذا الهوان يلفُّ أُمَّتَهُ وهَلْ

    يَبْقَى الأَبيُّ على الهوان ويَرْغَبُ

    When disgrace wraps his nation, can

    The steadfast desire disgrace and accept it?

  41. فإذا به متواثِبٌ ! أحناؤه

    غَضَبٌ يَفُُورُ مع الضُّلوع ويُلْهبُ

    There he is, leaping forth! His depths

    Ablaze with anger coursing his ribs, kindling.

  42. وخُطاه تَسْتَبِقُ الرّدى! حتّى إذا

    بلغَ الميادين التي تتقلّبُ

    His steps outstrip calamity! Until when

    He reaches the fields that churn,

  43. فَتَفَجّرتْ أحْناؤه وتطايرت

    أشْلاؤه والأُفْقُ مِنْهُ مُخَضّبُ

    His depths erupt and his limbs scatter

    And the horizon stains red with him.

  44. ليظَلَّ يَشْهَدُ أن أمّتنا هَوَتْ

    وغَفَتْ وأطْبَقَ فوْقَ ذلك غيْهَبُ

    To remain witnessing that our nation sank

    And slept, and above it gathered heavy clouds.

  45. ويَقولُ : إنْ أخطأتُ، إنّ هَوان مَنْ

    تَرَ كَ الجِهاد أشدُّ منهُ وأصْعبُ

    And say: If I sinned, the disgrace of those

    Who neglected jihad is worse and harder.

  46. أهلكتُ نَفْسي؟ غَيْر أنّ سِوايَ أهـ

    لَكَ أُمّةً ومَضَى يَهونُ ويُغلَبُ

    I destroyed myself? Apart from me it destroyed

    A nation, continuing to diminish and weaken.

  47. فالله يَغْفِر ما يَشاء لمنْ يشا

    ءُ بِرَحْمَةٍ تُرجَى وفضْلٍ يُوْهَبُ

    So God forgives whom He wills

    With mercy hoped for and grace granted.

  48. ما كان يَغْفِر للّذي يمْضي على

    شِرْكٍ و يُمْعِنُ في هَوَاه و يُغْرِبُ

    He would not forgive one who persists

    On idolatry and immerses in passions, a stranger.

  49. كَثُرَ الذين رَأَيْتُهُمْ يُفْتُونَ في

    أمْري ! وأمْرُهمُ أشدُّ وأَعْجَبُ

    I have seen many give me strange rulings!

    While their own state is stranger still.

  50. ما بَالُهُمْ لا يَنْهَضُون إلى الّذي

    أفْتَوا به، أو للّذي هو أقْرَبُ

    Why do they not rise to what

    They decreed, or what is nearer?

  51. ما عَاد يَنْفَعُني الفتاوى! إنّني

    في عَالَم الحقِّ الّذي لا يُكْذَبُ

    The rulings no longer benefit me, I am

    In the realm of truth that will not be belied.

  52. فالله يَحْكُم وحده بِعبادِه

    فيه، وحُكْمُ الله حقٌّ مُوْجِبُ

    So God alone judges His servants therein,

    And the judgment of God is truth realized.

  53. فدَعُوْا أُمُوريَ وانْهَضوا لأُمُورِكُمْ

    وافْتُوا ! فذلك لو عَلمْتُمْ أصْوَبُ

    So leave my affairs be, and rise for your affairs,

    And judge! For that, if you know, is best.

  54. الخُلْفُ بيْنَكُمُ أضَرُّ عَلَيْكُمُ

    واشَدُّ من مَكْرِ العَدوِّ وأصْعَبُ

    Division among you is more harmful to you

    And worse than the enemy’s plotting, harshest.

  55. فِرَقاً تَمَزَّقُ كَمْ تَرَوْن خِلالَها

    شَرّاً يُدَارُ وفتنةً تَتَسرّبُ

    Factions tear you apart, through them

    You see evil courted, sedition seeping.

  56. فجّرْتُ نَفْسِيَ! هل فَتَحْتُمْ بَعْدَه

    دَرْباً إلى النَّصْرِ العزيِزِ يُقرِّبُ

    I detonated myself! Did you open after it

    A path to mighty victory drawing near?

  57. هلاَّ جمعتُم أُمَّة الإسلام صَفّـ

    ـاً يَجْتَلي صُوَرَ الجِهاد ويَطْلبُ

    Why not bring together the Muslim nation, a rank

    That takes up the images of jihad and seeks?

  58. إنْ لمْ تَقُمْ في الأرضِ أُمَّة أحمد

    ضاعَتْ جُهودُكُمُ وتاهَ المَذْهَبُ

    If the nation of Ahmad does not rise on earth,

    Your efforts are wasted, your path lost.
