Lebanon, o homeland of the stranger and his glory
Glory built by your tattooed youth
Days are shattered under his shoes
And their adversity is subdued by him
Lebanon, patience, though the tribulations are grave
The noble is patient with tribulations
Say to him who aspires to your slopes
Below the homelands are shrines and breasts
If your lions fail you
Free women and youths will respond to you
To God belong your slopes, and intimacy His carpet
The cave a wreath, and you a prince
The light passed by it in spring, shaking it
And creation lies under its gown, sewn
The juniper knelt on the rocks; between its branches
The silvery moon and starling
There in the valley a wandering brook
Roaming between the repelling mountains
The dawn bathes in its water
And the deer sleep on its banks
The spirits frequent it in their wanderings
It is shaded by the willow and sprinkling rain
It befriended the shepherds, fearing not their flutes
Their singing and the flowing water's sigh
