أَمِن أَجلِ حَبلٍ ذي رِمامٍ عَلَوتَهُ
بِمِنسَأَةٍ قَد جاءَ حَبلٌ وَأَحبُلُ
Was it over a frayed rope that you struck him
with a staff? A rope and more ropes have already come.
هَلُمَّ إِلى حُكمِ اِبنِ صَخرَةَ إِنَّهُ
سَيَحكُمُ فيما بَينَنا ثُمَّ يَعدلُ
Come to the judgment of Ibn Sakhra, for he
will judge between us, then act justly,
كَما كانَ يَقضي في أُمورٍ تَنوبُنا
فَيَعمدُ لِلأَمرِ الجَميلِ وَيَفصِلُ
as he used to judge matters that befell us,
then pursue the honorable course and give judgment.
