يا قاضِيَ البَصرَةِ ذا الوَجهِ الأَغَر
إِلَيكَ أَشكو ما مَضى وَما غَبَر
Oh Qadi of Basra with the radiant face
To you I complain of what's past and what's to come
عَفا زَمانٌ وَشِتاءٌ قَد حَضَر
إِنَّ أَبا عَمرَةَ في بَيتي اِنجَحَر
The seasons have turned, winter is here
Abu Amra has made his home in my house
يَضرِبُ بِالدَفِّ وَإِن شاءَ زَمَر
فَاِطرِدهُ عَنّي بِدَقيقٍ يُنتَظَر
Beating his tambourine, making a racket if he pleases
So drive him from me with some long awaited bread
