بُنَيَّتي هَدَّني الزَمانُ

وَمَلَّني الأَهلونَ وَالإِخوانُ

My time built me up and let me down

My loved ones and friends filled and drained me

رَدَّ فُلانٌ وَجَفا فُلانُ

وَاللَهُ رَبُّ الناسِ مُستَعانُ

So-and-so turned away and so-and-so scorned me

And God, Lord of mankind, is the one I cry out to
