مَرحَباً بِالبَدر يَسرِي
مِن نُجُومٍ فِي وُفُودِ
Welcome, O full moon, moving along
Amongst stars in procession
فِي بُرُوجٍ مِن سُرُوجٍ
وَظِلاَلٍ مِن بُنُودِ
In constellations with armored horses
And shadows of spearmen
وَخُيُولٍ كَسُيُولٍ
وَجُنُودٍ كَالأُسُودِ
And horses like torrents
And soldiers like lions
بَعدَ لأيٍ وَتَنَاءٍ
وَظُنُونٍ مِن حَسُودِ
After nights of anxiety and longing
And doubts from the envious
يَا سُلَيمَانَ أبنَ عَبدِ
اللهِ هَذَا يَومُ عِيدٍ
O Sulaiman, son of Abdullah
This is a day of celebration
فأَنَا أُنشِدُ فِيهِ
بَعضَ غَصب مِن قَصِيدِ
So I recite in it
Some of an unfinished poem
مَرحَباً بِالمَلِكِ
القَادِمِ بِالجَدِّ السَّعِيدِ
Welcome to the king
Who comes with good news
دُم وَعِش فِي ظِلِّ أَمنٍ
خَالِدٍ بَاقٍ جَدِيدِ
Live in peace under the shade of eternal security
Your enemies have become
فَلَقَد أَصبَحَ أَعدَاؤُكَ
كالزَّرعِ الحَصِيدِ
Like harvested crops
Then they returned anew
ثُمَّ قَد عَادُوا حَدِيثاً
مِثلَ عَادٍ وَثَمُودِ
Like 'Aad and Thamud
