I congratulated the one I love on his circumcision
With joy, while my heart was filled with sadness
May he who caused you pain be ransomed for your pain
I fear for you when the breeze touches you
How could I bear to see you hurt?
I am most distressed by this ordeal
If this purification were not a tradition
Established by Abraham long before
I would have confronted the circumciser when
He became Moses with a blade, and you his Kalim
