1. وَمَا كَيِّسٌ في النَّاسِ يُحْمَدُ رَأْيُهُ

    فَيُوجَدُ إِلاَّ وَهْوَ في الحُبِّ أَحْمَقُ

    No wise man among people is praised for his reason,

    Except when infatuated, he proves to be a fool.

  2. وَما مِنْ فَتىً مَا ذاقَ بُؤْسَ مَعيشَةٍ

    مِنَ الدَّهْرِ إِلاَّ ذَاقَها حِينَ يَعْشِقُ

    No young man who hasn't tasted the woes of living,

    Ever suffers as when enslaved by love's pull.
