1. كانت محلَّ أناسٍ قبلنا فخلوا

    عنها وآثارُهُم فيها مُقيماتُ

    It was once home to people before us, but they left

    And abandoned it, though their traces in it remain

  2. تاللَهِ لو عَلِمت مقدارَ وارثها

    هبت إليكَ رُباها والقراراتُ

    By Allah! If I knew the worth of its heir

    I would have granted him its ruins and buildings

  3. قالوا العطياتُ أحياها فقلتُ لهم

    بل لم تكن قبلَ أن كان العطياتُ

    They said grants revived it, but I said to them

    No, it was not before the grants came to be

  4. أما سمعتم جريراً عن هنيدته

    يثني يرى أنها في الجودِ غاياتُ

    Have you not heard Jareer speak of Haneeda

    Praising her, seeing her utmost in generosity?

  5. وأينَ من حسبهُ الآلاف من ذهبٍ

    هنيدةٌ من سواهُ أو هنيداتُ

    And who can match her thousands in gold

    Except Haneeda, or other Haneedas?

  6. وأين من قيسُ عيلانٍ أرومتهُ

    وقيسُ عيلانَ أملاكٌ وساداتُ

    And who can match Qais Ibn Al-Mulawwah in his lance

    When Qais Ibn Al-Mulawwah had kingdoms and thrones?

  7. ومن يكن من أميرِ المؤمنين فقد

    قامت على فضلهِ منه الشهاداتُ

    And he who hails from the Commander of the Faithful

    Many testaments stand to his superior virtue

  8. اهنأ إمامَ الهُدى فالعدلُ منبسطٌ

    والدينُ منتظمٌ والكفرُ أشتاتُ

    Congratulations to the Imam of Guidance, for justice spreads

    Religion is organized, disbelief scattered

  9. أعيت مآثركم من أن تنالَ وكم

    شُنَّت عليها من الأقوالِ غاراتُ

    Your glories exhaust me, beyond what I can attain

    Though many attacks by words have assailed them

  10. وكم أرادت ولاةُ الشعر تحصرها

    فأخفقت دونها منهم إرادات

    Rulers of verse have tried to confine them

    Yet their efforts fell short before them

  11. هذي ابياتُ عبدٍ مخلصٍ لكم

    محض اعتقاد وما تغني الأبياتُ

    These are the verses of a loyal servant to you

    Pure in belief, though verses do not avail

  12. الأمر اعظم مقداراً وارفع من

    أن قد تحيطُ به منا مقامات

    The matter is greater in scale and higher

    Than what our positions can encompass

  13. دمتم ودام لكم إسعادُ سعدكُم

    ما دامَتِ الأرض والسبعُ السماواتُ

    May you remain, and long last your good fortune

    As long as the earth and the seven heavens
