حَمِدنا اللَهَ ذا العَرشِ المَجيدِ
عَلى الإِنعامِ وَالشَرَفِ الفَريدِ
We praise Allah, the Lord of the glorious throne
For His blessings and unique nobility
هُوَ الكَورِيُّ باني العِزِّ وَالمج
دِ لِلإِسلامِ وَالشَرَفِ العَتيدِ
He is Al-Quri, the builder of glory and majesty
For Islam and the eminent nobility
بِنَصرِ المُؤمِنينَ أَتاهُ نَصرٌ
وَأَسرارُ الجَداوِلِ وَالسُعودِ
With the victory of the believers, victory came to Him
And the mysteries of fate and good fortune
كَرامَتُهُ وَخارِقُهُ أُعِدّا
لِجَلبِ النَفعِ أَو دَفعِ العَنيدِ
His miracles and extraordinary acts
Were prepared to bring benefit or repel the obstinate
كَمورِقَةٍ بِرَوضَةِ جَدِّهِ يَش
تَفي مِنها أُولو داءٍ شَديدِ
As the brightness in the garden of his grandfather
From which the severely ill recover
لَدَيها حَيَّة مَنَعَت جَناها
بِلا إِحضارِ ذي الثَبتِ المَجيدِ
In it is a snake that protected its corners
Without bringing the one of proven righteousness
بِمِنساة فَتَجني النّاسُ إِذ ذا
كَ مِن وَرَقٍ لِأَدوِيَةٍ مُفيدِ
With its fang, people are protected when
It is like medicine for useful purposes
وَقِصَّةُ قَيلِ إِسماعيلَ إِذ صَد
دَ عَنّا جَورَهُ أَيَّ الصُدودِ
And the story of Ishmael when he blocked
His tyranny, which of the shields?
وَراعَتهُ أَماراتٌ لِأُمٍّ
بَدَت لِلقُطبِ عَيناً كِالشُهودِ
And signs for a mother appeared to the pole
As clear as witnesses to the visionary
رَأى عَوراءَ سَوداء عَلَيها
كِساء ثمَّ رَفلٌ بِالوَصيدِ
He saw a black camel rider upon whom
Was a garment, then a cloak with embroidery
كَما زَجَرَتهُ عَن أَضرارِ الإِسلا
مِ إِذ رَفَعَت لَهُ إِحدى النُهودِ
As she warned him against the harms of Islam
When she raised to him one of the sand grouse
وَإِفحامُ العَروسي حينَ دَلّى
ذَنوباً فارِغاً عِندَ الصُعودِ
And the silencing of al-‘Arūsī when he dangled
Sins while ascending the climb
وَرَدُّ جَزيلِ باقورٍ لِكُملَي
ل بِالجَاهِ المَكينِ وَبِالكُيودِ
And the abundant gifts of al-Bāqūr to al-Kumlī
With established glory and generosity
وَذَلِكَ حينَ غارَ بَنو خَليف
وَغارَ ذَوو العَمائِمِ وَالبُرودِ
That was when the sons of Khalīf attacked
And the wearers of turbans and heavy coats attacked
وَكَم مِن خارِقٍ أَبدى لَنا مِن
كَراماتٍ تَجِلّ عَنِ الجُحودِ
And how many miracles he showed us
Of sublime signs that silence all denial
جَمَعتُ مَعارِفي مِنها وَقَصدي
بِها تَكيملُ تَحلِيَةِ القَصيدِ
I gathered my knowledge of them and my intention
Was to complete the adornment of this eulogy
فَمِنها صُحبَةُ الخَضِرِ الَّذي لَم
يُصاحِبهُ الوَرِعِ الرَشيدِ
Among them is the companionship of al-Khaḍir, whom
No pious ascetic accompanied
وَمِنهُ صَومُ دَهرٍ راجِلاً في ال
قُيوظِ وَفَكُّ أَسرى في القُيودِ
And his fasting eternally on foot in the
Summer heat, and freeing prisoners from bonds
وَإِكمالُ اِستِقامَتِهِ وَعدلٌ
وَتَسوِيةُ الأَقارِبِ بِالبَعيدِ
And completing his integrity, justice
And equal treatment of distant and near kin
فَدانَ لَهُ بَنو حامٍ وَسامٍ
مِنَ اِهلِ قُراهُمُ وَأولي العَمودِ
So the sons of Ham and Shem submitted to him
The people of their villages and noblemen
بَنوهُ بَنَوا ذُرى عِزٍّ مَنيعٍ
فَبَذّوا كُلَّ مَملَكَةٍ لِصيدِ
His sons built a lineage of strong, unassailable glory
And they spread every kingdom for the hunt
رِجالٌ حارَبوا أُسداً رِجالاً
بِلا دِرعٍ وَلا لامِ الحَديدِ
Men who fought lions, hand-to-hand
Without armor or iron blades
وَتاريخٌ بِجُرحِهُمُ مُبينٌ
جَراءَتَهُم عَلى حِردِ الأُسودِ
And their wounds bear witness to their boldness
Against the throats of lions in history
لِآلِ الكَورِ كَورٌ في المَعالي
يَدُلُّ عَلَيهِ إِقرارُ الحَسودِ
For the family of al-Quraysh there is glory in greatness
To which even the envious admit
خِصالُ الفاضِلِ اِبنِ الكَورِ ضَرب
بِصارِمِهِ الصَوارِمَ في الجُنودِ
The qualities of the eminent son of al-Quraysh struck
With his swords in the armies
خِصالُ الفاضِلِ اِبنِ الكَورِي إِكرا
مُ حامِدِهِ وَإِرضاءُ الوُفودِ
The qualities of the eminent son of al-Quri are
Praise for his praisers and satisfying his delegations
خِصالُ الفاضِلِ ابنِ الكَوري أزرَت
بِكُلِّ خِصالِ مُغتَبِطٍ عَديدِ
The qualities of the eminent son of al-Quri have endowed
Every quality of a blissful man
بِذا شَهِدَ اليَتامى وَالأَيّامى
وَتُرضيكَ الأَرامِل في الشُهودِ
By this, the orphans and widows testify
And you satisfy the bereaved women in the courts
وَعِندَ تَهَلُّل بِنُزولِ ضيفٍ
أَعَدَّ لَهُ جَزيلاً مِن ثَريدِ
And when the descent of a guest is announced
He prepares plentiful fresh butter and honey
فَمِن لَبَنٍ وَمِن عَسَلٍ مُصَفّىً
وَمِن تَمرٍ وَمِن قَدلي القَديدِ
Of milk, filtered honey, dates
And dried meat seasoned long ago
كَما يَعتادُهُ الصافونَ مِنهُ
وَمَن يَرجوهُ في الكَرَمِ العَتيدِ
As al-Sāfūn hopes from him
And whoever desires his future generosity
وَمَولودٌ وَما مَولود مَن مِثلُهُ
في الناسِ في بَسطٍ وَجودِ
And a newborn, no newborn is like him
Among people in open-handedness and munificence
لِواءُ الفَخرِ في اللَّأواءِ فُلكٌ
جَميلُ الكُلِّ لألاءُ البُنودِ
The banner of pride among banners is a sphere
Beautiful in all its aspects, the brilliance of full moons
خَبير رِفاقِنا أَكرِم بِهِ مِن
رَفيقٍ لِلمُسافِرِ وَالشَهيدِ
A wise friend of ours, honor him over
Any friend to the traveler and martyr
وَأَحمَدُ نالَ صِدقاً مِن أَبيهِ
وَمِن عَمٍّ وَمِن جَدٍّ عَميدِ
And Aḥmad attained truthfulness from his father
And from an uncle and established ancestor
وَفَذلَكَةٌ لِكُلِّ مَكارِمٍ في
أَقارِبِهِ وَفي نُبلِ الجُدودِ
And dexterity in all virtues among
His kin, and in the nobility of his forefathers
وَكَظمِ الغَيظِ وَالشَحنا وَنُصحٍ
لِأَهلِ الحَقِّ في رَأيٍ سَديدِ
And restraining anger, hostility, and giving sincere advice
To the people of truth with sound opinion
وَودُّهُم لِأَهلِ الحَقِّ قاضٍ
بِما نالوهُ مِن وُدِّ الوَدودِ
And their love for the people of truth fulfils
What they gained from the love of loving friends
وَشاهِدُهُ السِوى بُهمُ العَطايا
وَلِلأَعداءِ مَسلولُ الهُنودِ
And impartial witness to them are gifts
And to enemies, drawn Indian swords
وَسِرُّهُم سَرى في كُلِّ فَرعٍ
مِنَ اِبناءِ الأَصالَةِ وَالحَفيدِ
And their secret plans advance in every branch
From the sons of nobility and descendants
سَرائِرُهُم بِأَمرٍ أَو بِنَهيٍ
لِنَصرِ اللَهِ يَجهَرُ بِالفَريدِ
Their secrets by command or prohibition
To aid God, are declared with the exceptional
عَلى الحُسنى يُزادُ مَزيدَ صِدقٍ
وَيا مَن مِن مُجازاةِ الوَعيدِ
In goodness, sincerity increases
And O He Who requites evil threats
وَرائِدُهُم يَفوزُ بِكُلِّ خَيرٍ
وَمَدِّ يدٍ عَلى بَسطٍ مَديدِ
And their leader succeeds in every good
With outstretched hands of lasting generosity
جَوابَ مُريدِهِم حِلٌّ وَبل
بِمالهم الطَريفِ أَو التَليدِ
The response to their followers' request is solution and
With their kind, gentle or customary possessions
فَكُلّ أَن تَرِدهُ لِحاجَةٍ ما
يُحِبكَ فَعالُهُ اِنجَح يا مُريدي
So if you want something disliked
His actions will not please you, O my follower!
فَزائِرُهُم يَفوزُ بِخَيرِ دينٍ
وَدُنيا يَستَهِلُّ عَلى الخُدودِ
Their visitor attains the best of religion
And life, grinning cheek to cheek
نَظَمت خِصالَهُم وَالدُرُّ يَزدا
دُ رَونَقُهُ بِمُنتَظِمِ العُقودِ
I composed their traits, and pearls
Increase their elegance, strung together
فَمَتِّعنا بِحُبِّهمُ مُفيضاً
عَلَينا حالَ مَضموني اللَحودِ
So delight us with love of them, pouring upon us
The state of the guaranteed smiles
وَجازِهِمُ بِغُفرانٍ وَرُحمى
وَرِضوانٍ وَجَنّاتِ الخُلودِ
And reward them with forgiveness, mercy
Contentment and the eternal Gardens
بِجاهِ رَسولِنا المُختارِ أَعلى
وَسائِلَنا المُشَفَّعُ في العَبيدِ
By the status of our chosen Messenger, the highest
Our intercessor for slaves in need
عَلَيهِ صَلاةُ رَبّي مَع سَلامٍ
يَفوحُ شَذاهُما أَبَدَ الأَبيدِ
Upon him, the prayers of my Lord and peace
Whose fragrance blows forever without end
