O daughter of the rising dawn, o sister of the moonlit night
O blossom of the branch, however delightful with fruit
Time passes, yet my longing is made new
Roaming my hearing and my sight
If you would let me meet your phantom I would live by it
An age, though after eyes yearn for vestiges
After your glance, I incline to no songs
However bejeweled with the light of sun and moon
And after your words, I sing no elegy
However it comes with passion and remembrance
O gently sloping plain, my ardour gave you to drink
A stream that frolics as it spills its pearls
And longing opened up in your melody
A garden that surges with flowers for the dreamer
Until at every moment it assails me
With what the garden’s fragrance comprises at dawn
