Stop your tears. Crying does not benefit you.

And beg for salvation from the Lord of the heavens.

Stop your bleeding. Time gives rise to time.

And ahead of you are days of taking and giving.

If you fall, know that your wound will pass,

Return to determination and perseverance with hope.

In her hands Baghdad has a sharp sword,

Burning with longing for the arenas of sacrifice.

O son of the Euphrates, you have Babylon alone,

The wonder of the world and the creativity of intelligence,

In it the soil is green and fragrant,

So you were the first to rise to the sky,

And you were the one who wrote the letters teaching,

And you were the one who established the principles of law.

Justice with you...each eye is like it

Whoever transgresses in the morning will be punished in the evening.

So sharpen a blade for an incoming revenge,

For the Lord delays and the rings are for the fathers.

This is Al-Abbas, a symbol and role model.

This is Al-Hussein with his light and majesty

A renewed martyr who bestows brilliance.

Greet the holy thresholds in the sublime Najaf

No injustice or even ordeal has barred them.

O son of those whose body parts scattered

Above the Tigris, palm trees and Karbala

So they could weave with their blood their banners

Time has stopped but their blood has not dried.

In every inch of Iraq there is a narrator

The land remains...and the tyrants pass away.

From here the Mongols and others crossed

And the two rivers are equally immortalized.

And Abu Hanifa...would he narrate for us?

How Baghdad avoided the colors of hostility.

And Abu Al-Furat with his poetry

If he stayed alive...would he pass without elegy?

God is Greatest, Oh Iraq over aggression

Erbil repels one affliction after another.

And Kirkuk is in endless sorrow

Mosul bleeds with no mattress or blanket.

    Baghdad comforts and delights us

Without it the world is empty space.

The land without Iraq is desolation

It is the gentle breeze, it is the dew, it is brilliance.

And in it Arab glories took root

Not in Kuwait or the sons of prostitutes.

You gave birth only to fine steeds

Not to a cowardly rabble counted as slave girls.

So it has all the suburbs and outskirts

And it has the gardens, banners and praise.

As for those who groveled with their noses

May gravel grind them as slippers are worn out.

Iraq remains their ruler and prince

It is the will of mankind...and God has willed.
