1. !!

O sea! This is the pitch-black night—

its darkness is lit for seafarers.

  2. They plunged into your depths while darkness enfolded them,

their two companions their heroism and self-sacrifice.

  3. They never sailed without a radiance in their souls

before which the darkness fell away.

  4. They came bearing what heals the heart, for they

came with noble deeds and solidarity.

  5. They came to the precincts of our holy place, where

intruders arrogantly overreach upon its land.

  6. When they saw Gaza’s suffering, for which there is

no cure in the reckoning of the merchants of war,

  7. they journeyed to it on a blessed journey,

standing in solidarity, with generosity in their hearts.

  8. !!

O sea, what tremendous honor you attained

when the noble met your swelling billows!

  9. They came to you from the land’s east and west,

their peoples and their names diverse.

  10. They set the Solidarity Flotilla a momentous aim,

    before which burdens become light:

  11. to champion the oppressed—that drove them onward.

Do the heedless know? Do the cowards comprehend?

  12. Did you see them, O sea, when they approached,

in the sheltering dark of patience’s night—how they shone?

  13. Did you see them when their resolve encountered

your waves’ roar, urging them on, and the water?

  14. Tell me, by your Lord, how their proud refusal journeyed

by night, becoming mercy and fidelity.

  15. Their flotilla, O sea, was a message

to the deluded, its letters radiant white.

  16. Their flotilla, O sea, became a landmark,

free, by whose grace the news takes wing.

  17. It is the landmark of justice in an age when

tyrants toyed with its people and wronged them.

  18. !!

O sea! You are now the narrator of what

the darkness concealed and the enemies committed.

  19. So recount the tale of what befell, and raise

with it a voice, that every horizon may hear you.

  20. Speak it as the statement of one truthful, and bear witness to it—

our hearts and minds are all attention.

  21. Truth remains manifest, radiant,

among the people whenever witnesses speak truth.

  22. When the sea recounted the whole story,

    lights blazed before the world.

  23. The mask fell from their faces, and no longer

were the enemy and its raging spirit hidden.

  24. It is the terrorist state: even the slightest deed

among all it has perpetrated is a heinous crime.

  25. It is a state whose law is its own terror,

and whose guide in ruling is caprice.

  26. No White House of theirs can conceal what has proceeded

from it; nor can the brokers and agents.

  27. !!

O sea, you and all your creatures, and the expanse

beyond the expanse, and the blue wave,

  28. and every grain of sand, and all that

the seabed holds and all that space contains,

  29. are splendid witnesses against the enemy—and indeed this is

testimony made trustworthy through direct encounter.

  30. A truth bright as the morning—what harm can come to it

if the blind eye does not see it?
