1. غريب ، وأوطاني تُداس وأمتي

    تعاني وموج الظلم يشتد صائله

    A stranger, while my homelands are trampled and my nation

    Suffers, and the wave of injustice intensifies its floods

  2. غريب، وهل في هذه الدار منزل؟

    لمن في سواها تستقر منازله

    A stranger, is there in this house a home?

    For one whose homes settle elsewhere

  3. ألا ليت شعري يا بلادي متى أرى

    خميساً من الأبطال سارت جحافله

    Oh, would that I knew, my country, when will I see

    A Thursday when rows of heroes marched

  4. يجَّمعنا شرع حكيم وسنّة

    فيبدوا لنا زيف الضلال وباطله

    That a wise Shariah and Sunnah unite us

    So the falsity of misguidance appears to us and its falsehood

  5. أقافلة الإسلام هيا تحفزي

    وسيري فإن الشر سارت قوافله

    Oh pinnacles of Islam, motivate

    And march for evil marched its caravans

  6. أيا أمتي،قد يأنس المرء بالهوى

    ويشتاق للدنيا وفيها مشاغله

    Oh my nation, one may get accustomed to passion

    And yearn for the world and its preoccupations

  7. ويمضي مع الأيام يشدو بحبها

    وفيها ولو يدري تقيم مقاتله

    And pass with the days singing of loving it

    And in it, even if one realizes, its fighters reside

  8. غريب، أنختار الحياض، وماؤها

    غثاء وحوض الدين تصفو مناهله

    A stranger, I choose the barren valleys, their

    Waters are murky while the religion’s basin its springs are clear

  9. وكم من صديق تحسب الخير قصده

    فتبدو على مر الليالي مهازله

    And how many a friend you assume good is his aim

    So over the nights his slips appear

  10. ومن سار في الدنيا بغير طريقة

    * فقد بات والأوهام سم يداخله

    And one who walked in the life without its ways

    Has slept while illusions’ poison seeps into him

  11. تناول من الأغصان ما تستطيعه

    * ودعك من الغصن الذي لا تطاوله

    Take from the branches what you can reach

    Leave off from the branch which you cannot reach
