في ليل دافوس كنا نبصرُ القمر

وفي طريق المعالي نلمح الأثرا

In the night of Davos, we could see the moon,

and on the path to lofty heights, we glimpsed the signs.

حكايةٌ بدأت من حرب غزّتن

لما تمادى عدوّ الله فانكسرا

A story that began with the war in Gaza,

when the enemy of God overreached—and was broken.

لما رأينا صموداً من أحبتن

سلاح أعداءنا في ناره انصهرا

When we saw the steadfastness of those we love,

our enemies’ weapons melted in its fire.

من ذلك الوقت لاحت في السماء

لنا شمسٌ رأها ظلام الليل فانحصرا

From that moment, there appeared in the sky

a sun for us; the darkness of night saw it and withdrew.

شمسٌ تأمّلها البسفور ساطعةً

فسرّه وجُهها الميمون وانبهرا

A sun the Bosphorus contemplated, shining;

its blessed face delighted it and left it dazzled.

في تركيا شدتّ الأمجاد مئزره

وأيّنعت ثمرات الرّوض وازدهرا

In Turkey, glory girded itself,

and the garden’s fruits ripened and burst into bloom.

ما زال للفاتح المغوار في دمه

نهرٌ أعاد إليها الخصب حين جرى

Still, of the valiant Conqueror, there is in his blood

a river that restored her fertility when it flowed.

وما يزال أبو أيّوب شاهدنا أمام

أسوارها لا يكذب الخبرا

And Abu Ayyub still stands as our witness before

her walls—his testimony does not lie.

حكايةٌ بدأ التاريح يكتبه

في دفتر المجد والإقدام مفتخرا

A story that history has begun to write

proudly in the register of glory and daring.

إني أرى في سماء الحق ألويةً

تعيد من ذكريات المجد ما اندثرا

I see banners in the sky of truth

restoring from the memories of glory what had vanished.

روحٌ تعود إلى ما كان من ألقٍ

وهمةٍ وإباءٍ يدفع الخطرا

A spirit returns to what once was brilliance,

and mettle and proud refusal that repel danger.

تقول للمعتدي كنّا نهابك من ضعفٍ

لدينا ؟ وأما الآن سوف ترى

It says to the aggressor: “Once we feared you, from a weakness

within us; but now—you shall see.”

يا أوردغان تحيانا معطرةً

أما الدعاء فما استخفى ولا فـتـرى

O Erdoğan, our greetings come fragrant to you;

as for our prayers, they have neither been hidden nor grown faint.
