1. بسلامَة الصَّدر الحياةُ تطيبُ

    وتفيضُ بالحبِّ الكبيرِ قلوبُ

    With tranquility of heart, life is sweet,

    And overflows with great love, hearts are full.

  2. كالشمس يعصف بالظلام شُرُوقه

    وتُعتِمُ الآفاقَ حينَ تغيبُ

    Like the sun whose radiance disperses darkness,

    Horizons are darkened when it sets.

  3. في القلبِ ميزانُ العبادِ ، فإنْ صف

    فالعيشُ صافٍ ، و البعيدُ قريبُ

    In the heart is the scale of worshipers, so if it leans rightly,

    Life is pure, and the distant becomes near.

  4. وإذا تخثَّر بالضَّغائنِ و الهوى

    فالقلبُ " كوزٌ " فارغٌ مقلوبُ

    And if it congeals with grudges and desires,

    The heart becomes "an empty cup" overturned.

  5. إنِّي أقول لكلِّ من في نفسِهِ

    " شيءٌ " يعكِّرُ صفوها ويشوبُ :

    I say to everyone who has

    Something that troubles its purity:

  6. ما هذه الدُّنيا سوى أُرجوحةٍ

    للناسِ فيها عثرةٌ ووثُوبُ

    This world is but a swing,

    In it for people are stumbling and clothing.

  7. مقياسُنا فيها شريعتُنا التي

    فيها لسُؤْلِ السائلينَ مُجِيبُ

    Our measure in it is our law that

    Answers the questioners when asked.

  8. و الصبرُ فيها زورقٌ ، مهما عل

    موجٌ ، يظلُّ يخوضُهُ ويَجُوبُ

    And patience in it is a boat, no matter how high

    A wave rises, it keeps plowing through and sailing.

  9. إنْ قالَ فيكَ النَّاسُ قولَةَ ظالمٍ

    فالقولُ عندَ إلهنا مكتوبُ

    If people say to you an unjust word,

    The word with our God is recorded.

  10. لا تبْتَئسْ منْ شاتمٍ مُتطاولٍ

    أبداً ، فإنَّ الشاتِمَ المغلوبُ

    Never despair of an arrogant slanderer,

    For the slanderer is the defeated one.

  11. دعْ عنكَ منْ يُبدي ابتسامَتَهُ على

    دَخنٍ ، وسُمُّ لسانِهِ مسكوبُ

    Leave alone those whose smiles come with

    Malice, their tongues dripping poison.

  12. وانظر إلى خير العبادِ "مُحمَّدٍ "

    كم نالَهُ من قومِهِ التَّثْريبُ

    And look to the best of worshipers, Muhammad,

    How much did he get from his people of rebuke!

  13. شتموهُ حتَّى في طهارةِ عرْضِهِ

    ورموهُ ، وهوَ مُكرَّمٌ محبوبُ

    They insulted him to the point of his honor,

    And threw stones at him, yet he is the honored beloved one.

  14. صنفانِ يصعُبُ أن تنالَ رضاهُم

    مهما تُحاوِلُ ، حاسِدٌ وكذوبُ

    Two types it is hard to please,

    No matter how you try: the envious and the liar.

  15. إنِّي أقولُ ، وفي عروق قصيدتي

    أملٌ ، وصوتٌ للوفاءِ حبيبُ :

    I say, and in my poem's veins is

    Hope and a voice of loyalty:

  16. يا كُلَّ من يلوي عِمامةَ عالِمٍ

    تلكَ الأمانةُ ، والإلهُ رقيبُ

    O you who wear the scholar's turban,

    That trust, and God is watchful.

  17. لُمُّوا الشتاتَ ، فإنَّنا في عالَمٍ

    قد فرقتهُ عن الصراطِ دُرُوبُ

    Bring together the dispersed, we are in a world

    Whose paths have diverted it from the straight path.

  18. من حولكم يا قوم ألفُ قذيفةٍ

    يرمي بها التفسيق و التغريبُ

    Around you, people, are a thousand spears

    Thrown by corruption and alienation.

  19. ومن التَّنطُّعِ و التَّطرُّفِ حولكم

    نارٌ لها بينَ العقولِ لَهيبُ

    And around you from sanctimony and extremism is

    A fire with blazes in minds.

  20. فإلى متى يبقى التناحر بينكم

    وإلى متى يتأوَّهُ المكروبُ ؟!

    So until when will the infighting amongst you remain?

    And until when will the oppressed sigh?

  21. العلمُ ميراثُ النُّبوَّةِ و الهُدى

    ولأهلهِ الأخلاقُ و التَّهذيبُ

    Knowledge is the legacy of prophecy and guidance,

    And its people have morals and dignity.

  22. همْ قُدوةُ الأجيالِ ، أنَّى يقتدي

    جيلٌ بمن هو في الخلافِ يلوبُ

    They are the role model for generations, so which

    Generation takes as its role model one who barks in dissent?

  23. لا خيرَ في علمٍ إذا لمْ يَرْعَهُ

    عقلٌ ، ولمْ يحدِبْ عليهِ لبيبُ

    No good is knowledge if unrestrained

    By a mind, and if a sensible one does not tend to it.

  24. كم في الحياة قديمها وحديثه

    من عالِمٍ ، وضميرُهُ مثقوبُ

    How much in life, its history and present,

    Is there of a scholar, yet his conscience perforated!

  25. أنَّى تُفيدُ غزارةُ العلم الفتى

    وفؤادُهُ عن حلمِهِ ، محجوبُ ؟!

    How can abundant knowledge benefit a youth

    While his heart from wisdom is blocked?!

  26. في منهج الإسلام صقْلُ نفوسن

    وإليهِ عند الحادثاتِ نثوبُ

    In Islam's curriculum is honing of our souls,

    And to it in events we return.

  27. فإذا أصبنا ، فالإصابةُ غايةٌ

    ما أسعدَ الإنسانَ حينَ يُصيبُ

    So if we succeed, success is the goal,

    How fortunate is man when he gets it right!

  28. وإذا تعثَّرنا بحبلِ خطيئةٍ

    يوماً ، فإنَّا للإلهِ نتوبُ

    And if we stumble on the rope of a sin

    One day, then to God we repent.

  29. نستغفرُ الله العظيمَ ، فإنَّهُ

    سبحانهُ الغفَّارُ حينَ نُنِيبُ

    We ask forgiveness of God Almighty, for He

    Glorified is the Forgiver when we groan plaintively.

  30. وبعفوهِ ترقى النفوسُ ويزدهي

    وجهُ الحياةِ ، و يُحسنُ التَّصْويبُ

    With His pardon souls rise and life's face glows,

    And correcting our course is laudable.

  31. يا كُلَّ من يلوي عمامةَ عالمٍ

    لا تجعلوا ظنَّ العبادِ يخيبُ

    O you who wear the turban of a scholar,

    Do not let the assumption of the worshipers be disappointed.

  32. تبدو لنا قِمَمُ الجليدِ شوامخ

    لكنها تحتَ الشُّعاعِ تذوبُ

    To us the icy peaks appear high towers,

    But under the sun's rays they melt.
