قرِّبي وجهكِ من وجه القصيده

لترتمي فيهِ معانيكِ الجديدهْ

Bring your face close to the face of this poem

So that your new meanings may fall into it

واسألي عن مشرقِ العزَّةِ فيها

و عن المجدِ الذي وفَّى عهودهْ

And ask about the dawn of glory in it

And about the glory that kept its word

و عن التاريخ مازال شغوفاً

برؤاها وسجاياها الفريدهْ

And about history that is still passionate

About seeing it and its unique traits

قرِّبي وجهكِ من إيقاع شعري

لتَري قُربَ الأماني البعيده

Bring your face close to the rhythm of my poetry

To see the nearness of distant wishes

لتري أحرُفَ شعري يا نعاتٍ

وتَرَيْ روضَ شعوري ووُرُودَهْ

To see the letters of my poetry, oh attributes!

And see the garden of my feelings and its roses

وتريْ قلبَ مُحِبٍّ لكِ أمسى

يطرُدُ الليلَ ويجتازُ سُدُودَهْ

And see the heart of one who loves you has become

Expelling the night and crossing its barriers

يحملُ الهمَّ على حالكِ ، لكنْ

روحُهُ بالحُلُمِ الآتي سعيدهْ

Bearing worries for your state, but

His soul is happy with the coming dream

إيهِ يا غزةَ ، صبرٌ واحتسابٌ

يا مِثالَ المُدُنِ الكُبرى العتيدهْ

Oh Gaza, patience and contentment

Example of great forthcoming cities

إيِهِ يا غزَّةُ ، في عينِ القوافي

أملٌ رحبٌ وأسوارٌ مشيدَهْ

Oh Gaza, in the rhymes of poetry

There is ample hope and erected walls

إنَّني أُبصرُ في ليلِكِ فجْراً

سيُزيحُ الليلَ عنَّا ويهُودَهْ

I see dawn in your night

That will remove the night from us and its Jewishness

غزَّةَ الأَمجَادَ في عينَيكِ شمسٌ

نورُها يكشفُ آثاراً مجيدهْ

In your eyes, Gaza of glories, there is a sun

Whose light reveals glorious relics

أقبلَ الفجْرُ رسولاً لانتصارٍ

ساق في دوامةِ الليلِ بريدهْ

Dawn has come as a messenger of victory

Bearing in the darkness of night its mail

جبَلُ الهِمَّة لا يقدر إلاَّ

مؤمنٌ بالخالق الهادي صُعُودهْ

The mountain of ambition can only be climbed

By one who believes in the guiding Creator
