غابةُ الظُّلم سَرَتْ منها الضَّواري
حين لا يقوى على الإدلاج ساري
The beasts have fled the dark forest
when the torch could no longer illuminate the path.
غابةٌ ما أخرجتْ إلا وحوشاً
تتشهّى مَضْغَ أكباد الصِّغار
A forest that produced only monsters
who relish in devouring the livers of the young.
خرجت من غابة الظُّلم نهاراً
كمساءٍ، ومساءً كنهارِ
It emerged from the darkness forest in daylight
like an evening, and like a morning evening.
لبست ثوبين ثوباً من بريقٍ
يخدع الناس، وثوباً من سُعار
It wore two garments, a garment of glitter
that deceives people, and a garment of flames.
كشفت أنيابُها عن خلجاتٍ
تعشق الظلمَ وتهفو للدَّمار
Its fangs revealed hidden desires
that love injustice and crave destruction.
تأكل الأخضرَ واليابسَ، ترمي
كلَّ من تلقاه في الدَّرْب بنار
It eats the green and the dry, throwing
everyone it meets on the road into fire.
ما لها حِسٌّ ولا عَقْلٌ يُريها
سوءَ ما يَجْلِبُه هَدْمُ الدِّيار
It has no senses or mind to show it
the evil of demolishing homes.
كلَّما لاحت لها أشجارُ روضٍ
يانعاتٌ، طَوَّقَتْها بحصار
Whenever it saw the trees of a blossoming garden
it besieged them with a blockade.
ومضت تقتلع الأشجارَ حتى
تَبْلُغَ الغايةَ من جَنْي الثِّمار
And it kept uprooting the trees until
it achieved its purpose of reaping the fruits.
تُشعل الحقل الذي ترتع فيه
ثم تمضي عنه من غير اعتذار
It ignites the field it grazes in
then moves on from it without apology.
تعشق الإفسادَ في الأرض وتأبى
أن ترى أرض سواها في ازدهار
It loves corruption on earth and refuses
to see any land but its own flourishing.
تَرِدُ النَّبْعَ، فما ترحل إلاّ
وهو يشكو من فسادٍ وانحسار
It exhausts the spring, and does not leave
except with it complaining of corruption and depletion.
ربَّما ترحم بالقتل صغيراً
وبثوب الموت تكسو جسمَ عاري
It may show mercy by killing a child
and clothing a naked body in death's garb.
ربَّما تحنو على الناس، ولكنْ
بالصَّواريخ وآلاتِ انشطارِ
It may pity people, but only
with missiles and explosive devices.
وإذا ما أسرفتْ في العطف ألْقَتْ
بعناقيدِ الرَّدى في كلِّ دار
And when it becomes excessive in kindness
it hurls clusters of havoc in every house.
ربَّما تُحْسِنُ للجارِ، ولكن
بالذي تُحْسِنُ من سوء الجوار
It may do good for a neighbor, but
with the harm of bad neighborhood.
يا وحوشَ الغابةِ السوداءَ، إنَّا
لم نعد في سوءِ مَسْراكِ نُماري
O beasts of the black forest, we
no longer acquiesce to your evil habitation.
بين أنيابكِ أشلاءُ الضحايا
وعلى شِدْقَيْكِ آثارُ احمرارِ
Between your fangs are the remains of victims
and on your cheeks are the marks of redness.
كُلُّ مَنْ في هذه الأرض يراها
رَأْيَ عينٍ، بعد تمزيقِ السِّتارِ
Everyone on this earth sees it
with their own eyes, after tearing down the curtains.
افرحي بالوهم، تيهي في غرورٍ
عَرْبدي في الجوِّ، غُوصي في البحارِ
Rejoice in your delusions, wander in arrogance
chatter in the air, dive into the seas.
سوف تلقيْن من الله جزاءً
عاجلاً، يُلْقيكِ في نار البَوَار
You will soon receive retribution from God,
throwing you into the hellfire.
أبْشري يا غابةَ الظُّلْمِ بخوفٍ
وارتكاسٍ في الرّزايَا وانكسار
Rejoice, O forest of darkness, in fear
and retreat in sins and destruction.
سَطْوَةُ الظالم، دَرْبٌ للمآسي
ينتهي فيه إلى ذُلّ وعارِ
The tyranny of the unjust is a path to tragedies
that ends in humiliation and disgrace.
إنَّما الظُّلْمُ طريق الموتِ، مهما
حَقَّق الظالمُ من وَهْمِ انتصارِ
Oppression is but the path of death, no matter
what delusions of victory the unjust realize.
