1. أقول له وقد أمسى يجيب

    مقارف فرية فيها يجوب

    I address him, now that he has begun to respond,

    Perpetrating a fabrication through which he wanders;

  2. فلسطين الحبيبة كيف تنسى

    وقصد شبابها فينا يخيب ؟

    How could beloved Palestine ever be forgotten,

    While the hopes her youth placed in us are dashed?

  3. وكيف مع "اليهود" يتم صلح

    له الحر بن يعرب يستجيب؟

    How can a peace be forged with "the Jews,"

    To which the free son of Arab lineage would agree?

  4. وكيف يباع للشيطان شعب

    له حق يؤيده الغريب؟

    And how can a people be sold to the devil,

    Possessing rights that even strangers uphold?

  5. وكيف يظل فتيته حيارى

    وغاصبه له السكنى تطيب؟

    How do its youth remain in bewilderment,

    While the usurper finds the dwelling pleasant?

  6. فوا عجبا لبائع حق شعب

    وراء كفاحه وقفت شعوب !

    Oh, the wonder of one who sells a nation's right,

    Behind whose struggle entire nations have stood!

  7. تؤيده وتدفع عنه ظلما

    ونحو ذرى العلاء به تهيب

    Supporting it and fending off injustice,

    Calling it upward toward the peaks of glory.

  8. ومن دول الحياد له نصير

    يسانده وأصوات تجيب

    Within the neutral states, it finds a champion,

    Who lends aid while echoing voices respond.

  9. وخائنه يقول حللت لغزا

    تحير فيه عالمه الأريب

    Yet its traitor boasts, "I have solved a riddle,"

    That baffled even the astute scholar.

  10. وينسى أنه قد صار عبدا

    للاستعمار وهو له ربيب!

    He forgets that he has become a mere slave,

    To colonialism, being its very protégé!

  11. ووكر مؤامرات للأعادي

    يحيط بأمره شك مريب

    A nest of conspiracies for the enemy,

    Whose affairs are shrouded in suspicious doubt.

  12. وبوق دعاية يلقي سموما

    يروجها خئون أو كذوب

    A propaganda trumpet spewing poisons,

    Which a traitor or liar promotes.

  13. سوابقه الذميمة ليس تحصى

    وما عن غيه أبدا يتوب

    His shameful precedents are beyond counting,

    And never does he repent for his transgression.

  14. له كل يوم ألف وجه

    يلوح به وتشكيل عجيب

    Each day he wears a thousand faces,

    Flaunting them in strange configurations.

  15. وما هو غير مغرور سفيه

    وإمعة له فكر جديب

    He is nothing but a delusional fool,

    A mindless follower with barren thought.

  16. يحركه الغرور فليس يدري

    بما يلقيه أو ماذا يجيب ؟

    Driven by vanity, he does not know,

    What words he casts or how he replies?

  17. كذاك نرى يهوذا العرب يبدو

    وها هو ذاك بورقيب الحبيب

    Thus we see the Judas of the Arabs revealed,

    And there he stands: Bourguiba, the 'Beloved'.
