I have companions whom I never tire of their conversation

Wise men, trustworthy whether absent or present

When we gather, their excellent talk is

A relief, driving away sorrows, supported

They benefit me with knowledge of the past

And intellect, etiquette and sound advice

Without constraint I fear, or stumbling in error

From them, no tongues or hands I guard against

If you say they're alive, I speak no falsehood

If you say they're dead, I am not disproved
