عِشْ مُنتَهَى الرِّفْقِ لا تُوقِدْ سَنا اللَّهَبِ

وصُنْ جَنَانَكَ عن شَيءٍ مِنَ الغَضَبِ

Live with utmost gentleness, do not kindle the fire of rage

And protect your soul from any hint of anger

قد تُحرِقُ النَّارُ من أَذْكَى شرارتَها

مِن حيثُ ظَنَّ سناها غايةَ الطَلَبِ

For fire may burn whoever ignites its embers

Thinking to seek its peak, but missing the mark

ولا تُجادِلْ .. فبعضُ الخَلْقِ ليسَ لَهُ

من الجِدَالِ سِوى شَيْءٍ مِنَ الصَخَبِ

And do not argue..for some people have

Nothing of argument except empty clamor
