1. My beloved, I have come after our separation.

    I have come to you, my weeping preceding me.

  2. I have come to you while life seeks to subdue me,

    And strives to make my defiance bow before it.

  3. I have come to you, riding a bird through the wind,

    Man-made, soaring in the sky.

  4. And at times my voice crosses the desert;

    My tender camel-driving chant fills the valley.

  5. I have come to you, lamenting the burden of sins,

    Hoping that God will grant me what I hope for.

  6. I have come to you, lamenting injustice and oppression

    Befalling your nation, cast out into the open.

  7. You raised it to the pinnacle of glory,

    And passed beyond the sky and space.

  8. Upon you be your Lord's blessing, O my beloved,

    Throughout the ages, O secret of radiance.
