Kisses from her mouth are seen upon my lip.
Her kisses linger on my lips
And in my eyes is intoxication from addiction to love.
And my eyes are drunk with love for her
Like a poem, I raise her above criticism.
Like an ode rising above all critique
So no metrical shortening, no grammatical error, and no flaws.
With no flaws, discordance or defects
Sana'a is my peerless necklace of chosen suras.
Sanaa is the unique pearl of my necklace
In her I chant my dreams and pray fervently.
With it I recite my dreams and supplications
If I am away from her and her people, away wanders
If I’m away from it and its inhabitants I pine
My soul; and all my questions are: 'When shall I arrive?'
My soul longing, asking when I will return
For all her breezes heal our ailments.
For its every breeze heals our ailments
And every drop of water tastes of honey.
And each drop of its water tastes of honey
