The Arabs never bowed to Caesar's rule

Nor were they ever cowed by arrogance

They cannot bear harm no matter how slight

And the freeman, if he tastes harm, will not bear it

The Turks have grown great, and we are a people

Who grew above the pride of the proudest

And if we decide on a matter, we communicate it

    Through spearheads, swords, and blades

The ally came knocking at our door

    Perplexed, lost, seeking guidance

He sought the aid of the noble Arabs

For they are refuge for the outcast and support for the desperate

When Arab knights gallop into the gloom

Brandishing swords beneath every branched spear

When swords appear like falling stars

Gleaming as they plunge through the gloomy darkness

Our ally's scales tipped, and whoever we side with

Is tipped by the greater, mightier one

Yet though our swords built him a palace

Ungrateful for the Arabs' grace - how unjust!

In the Refuge's protection did they die in vain

Their blood spilling on dust-colored earth

The ally betrayed; what promise did he keep?

What oath did he not break?

When by our swords he conquered lands

He forgot the white hand and did not remember

Spilt blood not contained by dams

Nor banks that guide its flow

Oh ally! Our swords and spears are unblemished

    Know this: they are unbroken

Yesterday they did away with your enemies

Tomorrow they will pierce every stony heart

    Chests seethe, their simmering signaling

    The coming violent, explosive storm

We were patient with you, not speaking

    Beyond what patience necessitated

This is our land, our den, and every

    Arab lion is its ransom
