أمن سلمى بجنب أنخ مغان

رماها بالبلى ريب الزمان

My friend Salma in the side of Ankh Magan

Time deceived her with afflictions

وحول أخي الخشيبة عافيات

أتت بعدى عليها حجّتان

And around my brother Al-Khashiba blessings

After me two arguments came to her

فظهران السيالة أقفرت من

سُليمى اليوم فالمقرونتان

So the two runners emptied of

Salma today, so the two friends

وبالوادي الطويل لها مصيفٌ

عفت مزنُ الحيا منه المحاني

And in the long valley it has a summer resort

The places of life were devoid of it from sorrows

وربع حول ذات الكهف عاف

محلا كان للبيض الغواني

And a neighborhood around the cave wellbeing

A place it was for the eggs Al-Gawani

تليلُ الوحش قد أضحى يبابا

فمغنى دومَةِ القيعان فان

The habitat of beasts has become desolated

So the basin of Al-Qai'an is desolate

وآخر بالرُبِيّات انمحى لا

ليادَ به عفت منه المغاني

And another in Ar-Rubayat faded no

Kings inhabited it, sorrows devoid it

وقفت به أسائله وعيني

تذيلُ دموعها والدمع قان

I stood by it asking it and my eyes

Shedding its tears and the tear is pouring

فما رد الإجابة لي ولكن

حماه النطق لي عي اللسان

It did not give me a response but

Speech prevented me, tied my tongue

مجرّ الريح للأذيال أمسى

وكان مجَرّ أذيال الحسان

The wind path became to the trains

And it was the path of trains Al-Hissan

وقفت به فقلت لصاحبي قف

معي فأرى الدموع بذا المكان

I stood by it and said to my friend, stand

With me, so I see the tears in this place

فإن تفعل أكونن يا خليلي

أخا لك ما تآخى الفرقدان

If you do, oh my friend, I'll be

A brother to you as Al-Farqadan were brothers

وإلا فالعداوة شأننا ما

بكيت أسى وغاب القارظان

Otherwise, our enmity is what

I cried in sorrow and Al-Qarzan disappeared

بتلك الدور لست أمر إلا

ودمعي مثل مرفض الجمان

In those abodes, I do not order but

My tears are like the discarded embers

بها كنا تساعفنا الأماني

ومن ريب الحوادث في أمان

In it we multiplied wishes

And of the strangeness of events safely

لقد أضحت لهوج الريح شأوا

وكانت شأو أفراس الأماني

It has become vulnerable to tempest winds

And it was vulnerable to the winds of wishes

ليالي إذ لميس تميس فيها

مع الاصال ميسة غصن بان

Nights when Layla found not in it

With the original, a branch of delight

بها قد كنت مسرورا وفيها

لأثمار الصبا واللهو جان

In it I was happy, and in it

For the fruits of youth and play it leaned

زمان تقودني والدهر سلمٌ

بها الأهوا وأعطيها عناني

A time that drives me and fate a peace

In it for the passions I give it my mind

ففيها كنت عذري الهوى لا

أفيق ولا أصيخ لمن نهاني

As in it I was, my love's excuse not

Awakening nor moaning to who prohibited me

لقد نامت عيون البين عنا

ليالينا بها فالوصل دان

The eyes of remoteness slept about

Our nights in it and so the reunion humbled

فلان عيونها يقظى فسلمى

نأت فنأى بفرقتها جناني

Why do not its eyes keep awake so Salma

Approached, so it approached with its parting my heavens

سيدني اللّه من سلمى ويقضي

لنا بع التنائي بالتداني

May Allah grant me from Salma and decree

For us after separation, with reunion
