1. طوبى لِمن قد عمّدتهُ الضّادُ

    فسرا ضَويًّا نجمُهُ وقّادُ

    Blessed is he who the letter “Dha” has baptized

    So his star shone brightly and led the way

  2. صعدَتْ به مبهورةً وبها صعَدْ

    والصّاعِدون إلى العُلا رُوّادُ

    It ascended with him dazzled, and with it he ascended

    And those ascending to the heights are pioneers

  3. حقنَ القصيدةَ من عذيبِ بيانه

    فتموْسقتْ وبها شَدا الإنشادُ

    He quenched the poem with the agony of his rhetoric

    So it was well-arranged and singing captivated it

  4. قد ردّها عربيةً سلطيُّنا

    بحياضِها يتزاحمُ الوُرّادُ

    Our Sultan has restored it to pure Arabness

    In its meadows, the visitors throng

  5. أسْقى القوافي من نميرِ بديعهِ

    من شعرهِ قد أبرقَ الإرعادُ

    He quenched the rhymes with the radiance of his originality

    From his poetry, lightning has flashed

  6. إنّ الذينَ تشعْوروا صِنو الغُثا

    مهما تجمهرَ حولَهم أعْدادُ

    Those who wrapped themselves in the torrent’s protection

    No matter how many enemies gather around them

  7. لا يُرتجى مِن مُقفرٍ حصدَ النّدى

    فاللاثمون لُمى النّدى مِدّادُ

    No dew harvest is hoped for from arid land

    So the silent are deprived of the ink of dew

  8. قُلْ للمليحةِ أنْ تُداري وجهها

    وتصومَ سمعًا عن هُرا من حادوا

    Say to the beauty to shun her face

    And fast hearing from the confused chatter

  9. لا غرْمَ إن نقضوا الصّلاة وأسْرفوا

    لا بدّ ثمّةَ نُسَّكٌ عُبّادُ

    No matter if they broke their prayers and sinned

    There must be devotees there

  10. قُل للمليحةِ أنْ تديم خِمارَها

    حسْبُ الصلاةِ عليُّها وزياد

    Say to the beauty to keep her veil

    The prayer for her is enough and more
