طيفٌ أَلم بذي سَلَم

بعدَ العَتَم يَطوي الأكَم

A specter pained me at dusk

After darkness blankets sorrow

جادَ بفّم ومُلتزَم

فيهِ هَضَم إذا يُضم

It came with sealed lips and restraint

In it is distress when it embraces
