Is not Sulayma sheltered beneath a roof that shields her,

While I have this passion for her that profits me naught?

The mindless night envelops her when it grows dark,

And she sees the light of dawn when bright dawn breaks.

She treads a carpet I have seen and touched

With my feet, trod by all who support me.
