1. أَلا أَيُّهَذا الراكِبُ العَيسَ بِلِّغَن

    وَقُل لي إِن ضَمَّ دارَكُمُ السَفَرُ

    O you rider of the nimble steed, deliver

    And say; if travel brought your abode together

  2. أَتَسلُبَني مالي وَإِن جاءَ سائِلٌ

    رَقَقت لَهُ أَن حَطَّهُ نَحوَكَ الفَقرُ

    Will you rob me of my money, and if a beggar comes

    I pitied him when poverty brought him to your door

  3. كَشافِيَةِ المَرضى بِعائِدَةِ الزِنا

    تُؤَمِّلُ أَجراً حَيثُ لَيسَ لَها أَجرُ

    Like a cloak that cures the sick with the returning sins

    She hopes for reward where she has no reward
