جاءَني عاذِلي بِوَجهٍ مُشيحِ
لامَ في حُبِّ ذاتِ وَجهٍ مَليحِ
My blamer came to me with a frowning face

قُلتُ وَاللَهِ لاَأَطعتُكَ فيما
هِيَ روحي فَكَيفَ أَترُكُ روحي
I said, by God, I will not obey you in what
Is my soul, so how can I leave my soul?
ظَبيَةٌ تَسكُنُ القِبابَ وَتَرعى
مَرتَعاً خَيرَ ذي أَراكٍ وَشيحِ
A gazelle living in the hills and grazing
In the best pasture with bushes and plants
